Ok since this question is generally about 10 or 20% of the questions asked on here, someone should sticky this.

GETTING THE BUNGIE SYMBOL NEXT TO YOUR NAME.

1. Get a gamertag and Windows Live ID account (you needed one to get your gamertag)
2. Go to your Xbox dashboard, select your profile from one of the menus, then go to "Account Management", and keep it open so you can see all of your details that you entered for your Windows Live ID.
3. Go to this link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox/livefeatures /linkgamertag.htm
4. Under number 3, click "Log in".
5. Enter your Windows Live ID (username / email) and password.
6. You should now be at a screen that asks you to create a gamer profile. So enter the name of your ACTUAL gamertag you already have, fill in the rest, then click "Next".
7. It should then come up with an Error saying that the gamertag is already taken. So scroll down a bit and it there should be a link that says "This is my gamertag".
8. Now click it, and you might have to enter your info (I didn't).
9. Go back to Bungie.net, view your profile, click "Edit Profile", go under "Profile Information".
10. You may have to wait a few minutes, but eventually another section will pop up at the bottom asking you if you want to "Customize Halo 3", then click "Show". Now save your changes.
11. And if this all worked, you may now enjoy your symbol next to your name. (And this also enables you to view your online friends, achievements, messages, and more here on bungie.net that you would normally have to be on your xbox to get)

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Sorry to burst your bubble about a sticky Kut; but Yoozel is currently throwing together a new F.A.Q. for all of the forums, and this is one of the major ones he will be answering in the F.A.Q. Nice try though ;).
