Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Looks excellent. Although, my only complaint is that your name sticks out like a sore thumb. My suggestion would be fading the center of the letters and only leaving the outline of each letter.

All great trilogies end in fives.

I have it there just to protect it.

EDIT: I have an unprotected version of it.

I completely understand; I feel the same way about my work. What I am saying though; is if you are using Photoshop, change the opacity of it to fade it just a little bit, so it doesn't stick out as much.

I'm using Paint.net 3.1. It's pretty neat, and I"ll take your suggestion. I do have a fade option.

Cool. Just fade it to where it is noticeable; but not sore thumb noticeable.

Well, good luck to you, looks very well so far.

The first spacer looks much better. I like it.

It looks undersaturated. If there is a saturation option increase it.

Thank you, but I'll keep it undersaturated. I like the dark blue/grey look. I'm fixing something important now though.

Well, I don't think having your name in the sample will cause any problems if you have an unprotected version. My guess is that they'll make you get rid of the name if they ever accept it anyway.

Edit: Cool. I stand corrected.

Nah, when Stosh first started excepting pictures he said our names can be in parts of the images; as long as they didn't take away from the feel of it.

Added a complete version of the theme as a sample.

Hey, are you still on? I need a little help with the bottom spacer again. Turning out crappy again. X3

LONELY ORPHAN! PLEASE ADOPT!

Wait, what images do I need to create a theme? I've been working with Photoshop CS3 for a few years and kind of want to make one now...

I used Halo 3 Screenshots for mine. Try experimenting with the Chief a little bit.

You will need a header that is 631X130px, an optional Forum header which is 902x100px, and a Bottom Header which is 256x256.

I just came back on if you still need help.

Edit: The Second finished theme looks really good.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

The lo-res fist/lightning image kinda turns me away. Too bad a hi-res version wasn't available...or is it?

Subject: How my theme is turning out...

All great trilogies end in fives.

This is my progress thread. It will explain what is going on with my theme for Bungie.net groups.

Completed Theme

Sidebar Top [Spacer]
> |Spacer #1| - Thanks Rokit for helping.
> |Spacer #2| - Love you, God...
> |Spacer #3| - Thanks God and Rokit for helping with the sizes and working it.

Sidebar Bottom
> |Spacer #1| - FAILED
> |Spacer #2| - FAILED
> |Spacer #3| - FAILED
> |Spacer #4|

How am I doing so far with my work? Am I doing well? Could someone help with this?

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I would agree with prometheus25 in that the lighting needs some tweaking. The header image is looking too saturated. I would certainly say the second 'final' side image is the better but it seems slightly out of place compared with the main header.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you can come up with for the forum header image as that's the one i had problems with. In conclusion, try to slightly adjust the lighting effects and maybe try to push the whole theme that little bit more.

He's working on a group theme. I really like this one and it'd be awesome if it was used. Keep up the good work.

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

Well, it looks good, but from another artists opinion, the bottoms spacers.. the spartans aren't exactly blended. What I mean is, they look roughly copy and pasted in there. I'd recommend blurring the edges just a little bit if you can. I use photoshop so I don't know what paint.net can do. It looks good, but I wouldn't use the fist in there, it just doesn't blend well. Maybe if you faded the edges out it might, but I dunno. That's just my opinion! PM me if you need anything.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

My motivation for making this died along with everyone else's. If custom images were implemented, or even a group of people to look over theme submissions, then I would be happy to start making themes (since they are extremely simple and easy to create). But alas, its almost as futile as submitting avatars.

Anyways, your blending needs some work. Sometimes your images still have borders. I agree about the lighting, it also needs some more work (right now its just a white spot rather than a light source, try a lighten/screen layer setting and the lense flare tool). your images are also a bit too dominant for the rest of the layout. Its like they just jump off the page. Your banner is ok, but the image under the links to the right is just BAM! Try to match the colors to the layout a bit more by using photo filters, gradient maps and different layer settings.

^ I made one but I wasn't sure what I should do. It was for the old b.net. I actually didn't care to submit it, I just wanted to make one
