Okay, I do NOT get the Halo 3 Forum goers. They are the biggest -blam!-s I have ever known of.

Here's the situation: I just upload a bunch of Halo 3 videos onto YouTube. I've been planning and working on it for a while now. I get them all uploaded, and I advertise them on the Halo 3 forum in a thread titled "Videos Galore!!!" (this is not a plug, this relates to what follows).

I get two comments. The first of which says:
"Another attempt at Recon Galore!".
The second says:
"so your the guy stacking random boxes ontop eachother and calling them maps. please stop.
p.s. none of those were the least bit entertaining."

What is wrong with these people?! I simply post some videos, perfectly innocently, and I get practically -blam!-slapped by them? What is up with that?!

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Well, the Halo 3 forum regulars all, in my eyes, are to an extent, idiots(not all but a large majority). They are obsessed with Halo 3 gloating about "I know every back room and cheat! You noob! Pwnt!" and all that bull and you just have to get over it. Somethings you have to ignore or just continue on what you were doing.

Just about every thing I post is my opinion and nothing more. Be subjective. Respect other's opinions. Try to understand other's point of view.

I just tried and learned the hard way again. You can not have a good conversation in that forum. There are just too many close minded idiots who think they know it all. I catch myself wanting to really get on them and realize I'm wasting my time.

There is something about the Halo community....something negative I think...

Don't reply in any way. I frequent the forum and try to keep my replies generally nice and no personal flaming, but unfortunately sarcasm doesn't work on the internet.

You say tomato; I say potato.

Self induced schizophrenia. That is the only way for a sane person to understand that forum.

I'm surprised that no one has created a group to discuss Halo 3. Something along the lines of "The Other Halo 3 Forum".

That very idea crossed my mind about half an hour ago!

You know, I expect nothing less from that forum. They're just living up to their reputation as deluded and close-minded fanboys.

I suppose the best thing to hope for would be constructive criticism, but that's never very likely.

Haha, I remember "Relic: The Better Zanzibar." That group was made to run and hide from the Zanzibar forum back in the day.

:D

Relic: A short swim from Zanzibar, twice the sun, and half the idiots!

And there's the problem. I'm okay with constructive criticism. I'm okay with "I didn't really care for it", or "Why don't you change...". It gives me a chance to see flaws that something of mine possesses, and gives me a chance to either explain my actions, or rectify them.

What I hate is the "OMG tihs suxxors!", or "ur probably -blam!- and u like dudez, dont u?", or "wow, taht was SO GOOD! not", and crap like that, which it seems is all the Halo 3 Forum goers can dish out.

If I can offer any defense, it's because of the apocalyptic Mad Maxscape that is the Halo 3 forum. A post survives for about ten seconds before it's buried, so we try to make them count. Some people just can't get responses with positive feedback, so they think it's Troll or Die. Not that it makes their actions any more acceptable. Besides, not all of us are like that! It's just that the only way you can get noticed is by starting up a flame war, so positivity isn't exactly on the rise.

Now I run into this thread, and I'm totally blindsided!

Where the hell are these kind, polite, sensible people when I ever need something from the Halo 3 Forum? All I get are the idiots!

  • 01.06.2008 11:06 PM PDT

You know, I was thinking of mentioning that. It's like some weird paradox. If I make a post and expect that people will react positively, they will react negatively. Inversely, if I think that I'm going to get flamers, I'll get the nice people. It's all about not living up to your expectations.

If I was a robot, my head would explode.

I generally stay out of the Halo 3 forum, simply because when I do go there to look at threads, its all repeat topics, spam, and trolls. I try to avoid it like the plague, but sometimes I can't help but wonder what is going on there, so I pop in for a look around, but won't post anything. There is too much immaturity/stupidity there for my liking.

Well, it would help if you didn't immediately snap back at any angry comment with a "Don't be a dumb-blam!-" or some other insult. You're too quick to react.

Ignore, report, and move on with life. If you post every time an idiot replies, it tells me you're just bumping your thread. Jerks flock to other jerks. Same goes for smart/polite people. (Flocking to other smart/polite people)

Change your tactics. Don't try to always 'own the thread' with witty comments or well-timed insults. Your thread (and it's appearance) will come out a great deal better if you don't even acknowledge the existence of idiots and jerks.

P.S. You sure like saying "Hell". That doesn't make me look at you as someone who respects who you're talking to. Nobody likes being cussed towards. (If not at directly, as you've done to others.) Be nice! It goes a long way. It might also explain how your B.net experience is so full of jerks, when mine really isn't nearly as bad.

20th Edit Now: You occasionally run into the few people who post something stupid in the first reply. If you ignore them, the rest of the posts will be far better mannered, instead of you instigating even more aggression in the thread.

[That was the last edit, I swear.]

The key here is to politely eat your steak and not dangle it in front of the dogs.

The bigger problem is why threads like these help. =)

Ha... Not nice...

I don't think I've ever really posted in the Halo 3 forum... It moves too quickly and is full of people who think they are alot better(not just at Halo) than they really are.

No one is better than anyone....Certainly not me.

That attitude is largely prevalent, although that seemed to be the case during H2 release as well. The mindset that "Everyone has an ulterior motive." fuels the flames on B.net. You will never do anything right at Bungie.net as far as the "larger" community is concerned.

Ha... Not nice...

Are you kidding me, that is hilarious!

I've been to the Halo 3 forums enough and can say that overall it's not that much different from the septagon in a way. From my experiences in nothing too special about people being ignorant. Honestly, I think the flood could probably beat the Halo 3 forum in "meanness". But people here think they're smart, while the Halo 3 forum just couldn't care who is smarter, if you have skillz joo are godz tho.
