Since we know that the Hunters only joined the Covenant because they were forced to, maybe the Covie engineers built the weak spot into their armor so they would be easy to kill if they rebelled?

The last man on Earth sat in a room, there came a knock at the door.

Service Record

Never thought of it that way. Nice job.

It syas that they never disobey orders though, and elites would be able to take them anyways

I always thought that Hunters had that gap because the armor was really heavy so they had to cut sections off to make it lighter. But that's me.

Yeah but plasma weapons do miniscule damage to hunters. But nice theory.

It's so if the Hunters did happen to rebel, the covies standing behind them can go, STAB STAB STAB. I also think that the one shot kill thing with the pistol is because the hunters heart is near were our livers would be, (it would be left open for a post mordom warriors rites ritual, where they remove the heart and place it on an alter in their temples). Projectiles penitrate the hunters flesh, but the pistol bullets explode, tearing through the heart. In H2 the covenant maybe will learn of this an put armour there to stop that from happening again.

Well, the thing is, marines cant kill Hunters very well, It even says somewhere that very few people ever survived an encounter with a hunter, and scines the marines only use the ma5b it doesnt matter

If they couldn't figure that out for 32 years, why would the figure it out within one?

It seems that the Master Chief is the only one agile enough to circle around the Hunters anyways, and no matter how powerful he is you just don't make provisions for a single soldier in your armor design.

I undertsnad what you are all saying, but i expect the real reason is there is no reason bungie just wanted a nice way to kill junters quickly and easily only there was a mistake and it was made to easy. In halo 2 it will (And in my opinion) probably take alot more, i thinking rocket launchers, and lots of grenades.

Lol some people are thinking TO hard. The game desingers made i that way so you could actualy kill them not the enginers... I think it was a good idea but keep it simple.

well the reason in the armor cuts is to allow the hunter to actually move you see when theyjump and what not its closed but when the hunch over or do a melee strike it opens but as for the whole one shot kill thing im shure bungie knew it could be done becuase its on the video of the game if you watch dont press n/e thing

Maybe the gaps are to help them bleed out some of the heat that might build up from their plasma cannon. As well as enabling them to move and not be mounted weapon that poops.

The hunters are probably like worms and breath though their skin. So they need some gaps in their armor to be able to breath. Also this would explain why it's an instant kill shot.

Great job of even thinking of this, even if some people think it has flaws. It was very original.

You guys got it all wrong.

It was a glitch in the game and was not meant to be there. Bungie didn't mean to do it, but by the time the game was set to ship, they just didn't have the time to correct it. It will not, I repeat, WILL NOT be that way in Halo 2. I think that I just debunked all of your theories. Good thoughts, though...

I love proving people wrong...

Sniper bullets don't explode, so how come if you shoot them with a sniper round, it kills them. Plus, if you zoom in and shoot them in the neck where there is a gap in the armor, they die instantly also. Like I said, it is an accidental glitch and Bungie said it will be corrected by November 9.

in the booklet that comes with the game dosent it say they are 9 feet tall when they arn't in battle position? (i am asking because i lost my booklet)

I think it says that they are 8' tall in battle position and 12' tall fully extended. Still, it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult for the Covenant to design a simple armor "sheath" for the Hunters, kind of like a millipede's shell, that can cover its body even when it is extended and still allow air through. I've heard the idea that the Hunters are worms or blobs inside their armor before. In fact, I used to think the Elites only held their shape because of their scale-like suits. This is because, if you look closely, you can see through the holes in their "skin" the same fibrous orange muscle that the Hunters are made of. Of course, I was proven wrong later.

wow, this is the smartest forum ive been in. I used to think the gap was there so it would ease the pain of fighting them, but then i played the game and found out its too freaking easy. But i like the theory of the backstabbins. i love backstabbins!
