Subject: Does anyone have trouble aiming with a mouse?

I want to buy a wireless adapter for my computer. I totally suck with a mouse compared to a controller especially on Halo. Does anyone else use a controlelr instead of a mouse?

Long live the Last Refuge!

using the mouse is easier then using a controler in my book, i have a wireless laser mouse.

The reason you suck with a mouse is because your mouse sucks. I guarantee it. I think you'll find that without hacking, a controller doesn't help much either. Unless you play halo 2, in which case you get free autoaim : D

If you're getting into PC gaming buy a gaming mouse and preferably a good mouse pad. Enjoyment shall multiply senor.

Achooaly... I use a controller when I play Halo for the PC. I use a mouse when I play everything else though. And thanks to senor Ryan I have a real one, instead of the one I used to have.
It's easier for me to play with a controller because thats how I started playing Halo. I tried playing with a mouse, and I felt like something was being ripped from me in ways of how the game is played. So I stuck with the 360 controller, use the USB port :D

But CounterStrike:Source, Half Life, Need for Speed, and regular CounterStrike, I mouse it up hardcore. Its easier to use whatever you start out with originally, I think :)

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I use a 360 controller on Halo 1 and Halo 2 for PC, and I hold my own in both of them.

I use a mouse and keyboard in most other games, though, except for R6V and SCDA.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I have trouble aiming with the mouse, but I have more trouble aiming with a controller. Give me a controller for BloodRayne 2 and Silent Hill games any day though.

Does getting a better mouse really make that much of difference? I just have this random $15 logitech optical mouse that I've had for a year or two and it seems to work fine, but I've never used a 'real' mouse to compare it with.

Zen gave me a Fatal1ty gaming mouse, and it was way, way too sensitive so I couldn't use it. I use a Logitech one just like you.

You should try it. The thing is, that once you get a highsensitivity/accuracy mouse, you're going to have to get used to it. It's different. But after a week of playing you WILL feel the difference. You won't be able to go back to a rollermouse, or even a low-dpi optical one. I work at 1800 DPI for my games now and anything less is a travesty.
And #357.... the Fatl1ty mouse had his grip style preference built into it right? creeped me out... I can't do "t3h claw" at all lol.

I'm sure you sucked with a controller when you started. Just give yourself some time to improve with the mouse.

Yeah, it does have a weird shape. I found it hard to use.

I use the mouse and controller about the same. I'm great with both of them. I can become good at nearly any game with mouse or controller in about 10 matches.

I agree that a contoller (Xbox 360 USB!!!) is far better than a keyboard / mouse combo. I find it really hard to mele cause my index finger is pinned to the mouse as I frantically fire at the enemy. With a controller the buttons are spaced correctly and, for my mind at least, its like riding a bike. You don't have to think about which button does what it just becomes second nature. I've played a bit with the keyboard and mouse even changed the keyboard mapping and I still can't seem to learn which button does what! But when you are on the PC game typing messages to other players in internet games is easy cos you have all the letters and stuff.

Wait...are you saying you need to let go of the mouse to hit the melee button on the keyboard?!?

My isue with the controller is that I find it hard to use the function keys (X, Y,B, A) becuase both my thumbs are on the sticks and my fingers are gripping th controller and on the trigger. With the keyboard however, I can access all controls at the same time.

H1 and Halo Custom edition name: madkiller92
xfire:madkiller92

I have a normal corded non-gaming mouse that came free with pc and I play halo fine with it, and have no trouble. All u need is a mouse with 2 buttons and mabey that little rlling thing not a fancy gaming one. My mouse has the 2 buttons and rolling thing but it dosen't have a ball at bottom, has red light thing. The mouse with ball on bottom suck, the ball will mess up or break. it's just a dell one works fine.

I wish I was like you. I have a mental block that prevents me from getting good with the controller. :(

Controllers are blasphemy for first person shooters.
Once you change from a 400-dpi 2-button mouse to something like the G5 or MX518 you don't want to go back. I have had my G5 for 2 weeks and the 2000-dpi setting is my default now. At first it was crazy fast, now its awesome, also 2-button mice with scroll wheels don't cut it any more. I now have to move my left hand to to only seven actual game buttons, w, a, s, d, crouch, jump, switch weapons and reload.

Old mouse had left click, right click, and scroll wheel.
This mouse has left click, right click, 2 two
