Man let me tell you.......that -blam!- was ridiculous. I love movies and see everyone that comes out. Usually I get the bootleg before it comes out, but still go to the movies to watch them again. Here latley moview have been letting me down (I don't even want to talk about that Van Helsing bull-blam!-). Not so with Riddick, that -blam!- is the -blam!-!! Diesel is a badass, Riddick is possibly the best movie charchter ever concieved. There's no doubt about it, go see The Chronicles of Riddick. It's more than well worth whatever the ticket price is. -blam!- are you still reading this -blam!- thread for? Get off your ass and go!!!

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

Yeah I saw it today at a matinee it was da BOMB!
I couldn't help think "if they can do this and have a cool game (i've been playin the Riddick Demo all month), then WHY CAN"T HALO? C'mon Bungie, you even got a huge thread "Rock the Vote" going and last I checked, it was the guy who I just saw this afternoon -kick ass in a Sci-Fi-Action-Thriller who was leading in the polls. What gives?

I guess you guys just kick ass in your own way (Halo is still better than anything else out on the xbox) but a Halo movie would have me pooping in my pants at the very first trailor.
I love Sci-Fi and I love video games and Halo has merged the two perfectly and this afternoon I got to see "Riddick" and Vin Diesel take the Sci-fi genre to another definitive level on the big screen.

Sweet, it does seem kind of cool. I'm not a huge Vin fan, but I'm a sci-fi fan and this seems up my alley.

How's the game? I may have to go check it out this weekend.

I hear the game is great, but short.

Yeah and kinda hard, looks amazing but handling takes some getting use to. Mind you I've only played that demo but I got kinda frustrated more than once. Definitely see the movie Sketch if you're a Sci fi fan, aside from 2 or 3 corny and poorly delivered 'one-liners' you will not be dissapointed.

the game is a bit short i only got it tuesday and ive beaten it three times.( and yes the third time it was on the hard difficulty) but being able to play through a game three times has to say something. the gameplay is so addictive. and also the game really doesnt seem much shorter than halo.

Sometimes it takes like a day or two for images from a movie to really strike you and I gotta say that this Riddick movie has got a couple of 'em.

The one scene where you see from the ground (at night) what the approaching space armada looks like is amazing as well as the pan up to it (a bit later in the movie) when the ships are entering the atmosphere.

I see this and I picture a huge Covie cruiser instead -just on the edge of Earth's atmosphere getting ready to use the abundance of gas to glass our planet.

"Riddick" had a really cool effect with heat/exhaust that would look so cool under the Covie Cruisers (really show off how powerful they are) in this... my Halo Movie day-dream.

ive seen it now and it was awsome it took a different path than pitch black for the better in my opinion. and it explains why riddick is the way he is

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Kick ass! I've been waiting to hear reviews, and its a good one!

I've yet to see either Pitch Black nor Riddick, but I do plan on seeing them both (in order, of course). The reviews have been mostly bad on Riddick, but you can't always trust the critics. Only sometimes. This makes it difficult to choose movies when you're not even sure if you can trust the reviews or not.

Movies.com is a good web site to look up reviews. It gathers from many different sources and even offers audio from the Ebert and Roeper show. Here is a link to the reviews for The Chronicles of Riddick.

In the above link, there are 2 positive, 11 negative, and 2 mixed reviews. :S

The sad thing is that Ebert gave Riddick only 2 stars out of 4 (thumbs down), and Garfield was given 3 stars (thumbs up). I'm beginning to question Mr. Ebert now. If you look at the reviews for Garfield you will see that Ebert is the ONLY person at movies.com to give Garfield a good review. Garfield received 1 positive, 14 negative and 0 mixed at the site.

Anyway, I will see Riddick no matter what the reviews say and I will make my own judgement. And as for Garfield... no thanks, I don't want to see it. I don't want my eyes to melt from their sockets.

cheers,
Twisted Chains

i've been wanting to see the movie for a while. which should i do first: get the game or see the moive? the movie is PG-13, so my parents won't ahve a problem with me seeing it (i don't really like R rated movies anyway. some are a little overblown). but the game is M.

i'm still trying to figure out why the made the movie PG-13 and the game M... oh well. long as its good.

which should i do first: game or movie?

let me start by saying that i loved pitch black. i guess i'm just a sucker for b movie quality sci-fi flicks, and i've got a soft spot in my heart for anti-heroes. in chronicles, riddick doesn't disappoint. he's still a badass. unfortunately the story left me speechless (in a bad kind of way). i'm not going to spoil or anything, but suffice it to say that those of you expecting even a semblance of a good story, should reweigh their expectations. riddick was still enough of a badass to make the movie fun for me, though.
btw, anyone catch the A vs P preview? wow...been waiting for this goddamn movie since i first bought the comics way back when. good thing is, it looks pretty damn cool.

i've read in an earlier post that people have been taking between 6.5 - 8 hours to beat it on normal.
incidentally, i've learned that there's going to be an animated chronicles coming out featuring the voice of vin diesel. anyone know anything about it?

I'm going to see Alien vs Predator on the day it comes out (8/13/04). And you're right, it does look pretty cool, but the bad thing is that it could have been a WHOLE lot better than it will be. It would have had a better writer and director. But they bailed out for some reason I'm not sure why. The person who was originally going to direct AVP was James Cameron who directed Terminator 1 and 2 (unfortunately he didn't do Terminator 3 and make it a whole lot better movie. He bailed out on T3 because he felt the script for it was too weak. So then the director of the Kurt Russel movie Break Down took over and did a crappy job). So since James Cameron isn't directing AVP, the Mortal Kombat 1 and Resident Evil director Paul W. Anderson took over. The thing about Paul W. Anderson is he can make movies seem relly cool, but they won't be anything real great. They are just okay movies with a few cool ideas in them. Now, I don't know about you guys but I would have rather had James Cameron direct AVP than Paul W. Anderson. James Cameron would have given it a much bigger feel and much bigger appeal and turn it into one of the best movies of the year! But with Paul W. Anderson, it will just be eh, kinda cool, but nothing big.

PS: James Cameron also directed the biggest grossing movie of all time. Titanic.

cheers,
Twisted Chains
