I'm going to see Alien vs Predator on the day it comes out (8/13/04). And you're right, it does look pretty cool, but the bad thing is that it could have been a WHOLE lot better than it will be. It would have had a better writer and director. But they bailed out for some reason I'm not sure why. The person who was originally going to direct AVP was James Cameron who directed Terminator 1 and 2 (unfortunately he didn't do Terminator 3 and make it a whole lot better movie. He bailed out on T3 because he felt the script for it was too weak. So then the director of the Kurt Russel movie Break Down took over and did a crappy job). So since James Cameron isn't directing AVP, the Mortal Kombat 1 and Resident Evil director Paul W. Anderson took over. The thing about Paul W. Anderson is he can make movies seem relly cool, but they won't be anything real great. They are just okay movies with a few cool ideas in them. Now, I don't know about you guys but I would have rather had James Cameron direct AVP than Paul W. Anderson. James Cameron would have given it a much bigger feel and much bigger appeal and turn it into one of the best movies of the year! But with Paul W. Anderson, it will just be eh, kinda cool, but nothing big.
PS: James Cameron also directed the biggest grossing movie of all time. Titanic.
cheers,
Twisted Chains
