COMMUNITY CHALLENGE 2 | CONTENT GORILLA

Type: Solo
Part 1 Time Limit: 55.5 Hours (Ends: 1/12/08 11:59 PM PST)
Part 1 Difficulty: Easy
Part 1 Status: In Progress
Part 2 Time Limit: None
Part 2 Difficulty: Heroic
Part 2 Status: In Progress

Community Challenge 2 MVP: Eight Oh 8 State
Community Challenge 2 Winner: Rokit
Community Challenge 2 Runner Up: Ppr 8 Kut

Objective : You are a Bungie.net writer with the title of Content Gorilla. As you see thousands and thousands of users join Bungie.net everyday, you notice that most of them have no clue what the site is or where to start. Your job is to write a Bungie.net introduction welcoming them. Your boss is only giving you 24 hours and if you cannot get it in, it won't be accepted. It is very important to know that you may NOT edit your introduction or repost your introduction; doing so will automatically disqualify you.

There are many things you should include, which is why we suggest you review the guidelines and recommendations below. It is also advised to preview your post a few times because of the restrictions of editing. After 24 hours, a winner will be selected, declaring that they provided the best introduction following the categories below. There may or may not be a runner up, but if so they will not receive a keyword.

The second part is for the Community Challenge MVP. There are opening lines to some famous books. You are required to unscramble the opening line, research and find the book and then fill in the blank, which would be the author. Whoever contributes the most into this portion will receive MVP. After solving all of the opening liners, there will be another hidden message. This hidden message will be worth 5 points.

Clarification : The Community Challenge MVP is the person who contributes the most in helping us advance to the next objective. After a certain number of challenges, there will be a MVP challenge and only those members will be allowed to participate. The Community Challenge Winner is simply the person who solves the final portion of the objective or has proven to be the best player for that specific challenge topic. They are awarded a keyword that will be needed in the future for one of the few Mythic challenges.

Welcome to Bungie.Net!

This is an open welcome to all Bungie.Net users. We would just like to let you know, we appreciate your loyalty to our products, and have continued on to see what exactly the Bungie Community is; and who is apart of it.

First off, we here at Bungie enjoy our fans, and love them. We will help you if you need help, in hopes that you will return the favor to another. We will sometimes give you little tid bits of information from a new game, as well as show you a few juicy screenshots.

Here at Bungie.Net we have a similar, though different, navigational system to move around the Web Site. The tool bars up at the top of the screen will allow you to view forums, search for players, search for groups, meet the Bungie team, view Bungie's history, or even view games that you have been in (When your gamertag is linked.)

Now, there are a few things that you will need to know before you jump into the Community. One thing, actually no two things, in particular are the Code of Conduct as well as the Terms of Use. Yes, I know, 'But I don't want to read that.'. This question already has a solution, and yes it still involves reading. Trust me, if you read this far, it will be no problem ;). Now, the Code of Conduct as well as the Terms of Use are summed up in threads in each forum. These threads are, and always will be, at the top of each forum; the one's with explanation points as the symbol to the left of the title. These are the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct in a nut shell, and will get you by when using Bungie.Net. However, it is suggested that you skim the Code of Conduct as well as the Terms of Use.

You will also notice, when you join the forums, that there is a button that says 'Report as spam'. This button will allow you to report any thread you please. Be warned though, if you purposely Report a thread that is not against any rule frequently; consequences are as dire as being whipped with a wet noodle. But most frequently, you will lose trust, and if done long enough, you will receive a temporary ban from the forums. If this happens, be sure to review and refresh your knowledge of the rules.

You are also given the opportunity to create a Community Group, when your Bungie.Net account has been active for 14 days. When you create a Bungie.Net Community Group, you will be able to gather friends from the Public Forums to the group you created. Within the group, you make the rules, as along as you abide by the Terms of Use and the Code of Conduct. You may appoint moderators of your choosing, and even have special member titles, again of your choosing. Creating a Group is the way to gather people together and get together. Say you want to start a LAN party, just create or join a group that is related, or is about, LAN parties, and you can all hook up online. A small warning though, you should not advertise your group in every Forum, instead, you should advertise within the Classifieds.

As you have read above each forum is designated for one topic in particular, excluding the flood and you'll find out why in a minute. Below, is a list and brief explanation of each forum.

The Halo 3 Forum
This is a forum that contains most things Halo 3. From discussing the weapons to discussing the enemies. This forum is not however, a place for playlist discussions, advertising groups, or asking people to view a video, picture, or to play a map or gametype.

The Halo 3 Files Forum
This is a forum where you will be able to post your screenshots, videos, gametypes, game clips, and maps in Halo 3.

--Guide to posting a picture, video, gametype, game clip, or map
In your fileshare here on bungie.net, locate what you wish to post. Under the description of your map in that slot, there should be a link which says "publish to forums".

Optimatch Forum
This is a forum where you are allowed to discuss the playlists in Halo 3/Halo 2 Matchmaking. Whether you love a playlist, hate a playlist, offer a solution to a problem in a playlist, ask others what their favorite playlist is, or just looking to see if there are any new playlists that may be uploaded.

Bungie General Forum
This is a forum for old school Bungie. This forum is home for a bunch of old school gamers. This is a forum where you may talk about Gnop!, Minotaur, The Paths of Darkness, The Marathon Trilogy, Oni, Myth, or any other various old school classic Bungie game. This forum can also be used as a place to theorize what games Bungie will make in the future, as well as talk about Bungie Lore.

Bungie.Net Community Forum
This is a forum were you can discuss the site, other forums, the Seventh Column, workers, proposals for the site, Frankie, and can often times be seen as the 'Service Desk' of the site. And by that, I mean it can be used for help, during various situations like how to link your gamertag; or to explain the the Halo 3 ranking system is working properly. This forum is, however, is not for advertising chapters.

Off TopicForum: The Flood
Just about anything and everything. This forum has just about everything in it, for stories to drawing. You can post just about anything in there. Do not post a thread with the title bannana, and the body being bannana; that's spam. Everything is allowed, except for spam, blogs, and Halo topics. You can ask questions, get guidance as to which game to buy, what system to buy, how many people it takes to screw in a light bulb, or asking people for help with some work; whether it be school or work....work.
