What's this all about, when Lorraine says:

"I helped a bit with combat dialog for um… a set of characters that cannot be named, I think?"

female marines? or female spartans? or maybe even Grunts or other Covie dialogue?

discuss amongst yourselves.

It better not be rated T!!! That means They would've Toned it down, and I think iT is fine The way iT is.

Whatever Bungie decides to do i'll stick by them.So if the game is rated M or T iit still will be the greatest game.

You forget that Halo 1 was actually rated teen the way it was (go read up on IGNs archives if you dont believe me) but because of complaints it was changed to mature (the same thing happened to Dugeon Siege) so maybe with the proliferation of gory profane games like Manhunt and The Getaway that Halo was in no ways comparable to those games which use profanity for reasons other than authenticity (read:$$$) I belive that Halo was the least offensive M rated game ever and it wouldn't bother me if it was teen now (seriously does Halo have the same content a R rated movie has? does its rank up with GTA when it comes to content?)

I wish someone could give a detailed description of what this "Proximity Voice" is. Is it in another online game somewhere os we could check it out?

I'm pretty sure the Doppler effect deals with moving objects and the shift in frequency (sound or light) the movement creates. ie. when the object is moving away from you the frequency band is stretched out (think waves) and when moving closer it is compressed.

I have a feeling that it's only really useful in Slayer gametypes (mind you i have no idea what it is, it's just a thought). Having to hit a "Radio" button to talk to teammates would just complicate things. In Slayer modes, it would work just as a Radio would but EVERYONE can hear your voice depending on how close they are to ya.

My main question is "will it be possible to get a Surround sound feel from it?"... i love surround sound.

I can see myself over Xbox Live on Halo 2 right now *fades into a dreamy state* I stand behind a sniper and listen in as he communicates to his team giving me the info for a heads up to my team but first I do the nice thing and thank him for his sniper rifle and then boom I shotgun him with so much force that it flings him right down the hill then I pickup his Sniper weapon and kill his friends who he was so kind to let me know where they where coming from hehehe

MJOLNIR has that biolayer of gel. That would stop the metal from vibrating. Even if it could vibrate, you couldn't tell what is being said. Plus, you would have to be pretty close to sense the MJOLNIR armor vibrating.

"Oh chief I love how your metal Vibrates."

lmao lol

LoL, I was being funny again although that does sound a bit desturbing.

Proximity Voice would be the same as real life. Just people with in the sound of your voice could hear you. Example: if you are talking to your team mates they will hear you and any one with in a 15m? radius will also be able to hear you. Maybe they will have something where the louder you talk the further you voice travels. That way you can wisper to your team mates over radio without the other team eaves dropping.

This may be the only option during everyone for themself slayer to gut down on bandwidth.

During team games you will be able to comunicate with your team via radio, but only with the other team through proximity voice.

There are usually options for the proximity voice feature you can turn it off or set it for different distances so when you talk you can have it so everyone on your team can hear you and also anyone within 10 or 15 meters. In other games you can turn off your team radio and here only the people within the distance you set it at but who knows what bungie did they may have implemented a decibal sensor so that the louder you talk the further off you are heard. also those who don't think its realistic that the master chiefs can be heard from inside there suites I think I remeber M.C. 117 saying in one of the books that there helmets have a sort of hearing aid that can let them hear a pin drop at a hundred meters. I may be quoting him wrong but I know they have super natural hearing.

Even if a SPARTAN could hear another SPARTAN speak while in his helmet, he wouldn't be able to understand what is being said.

Exactly, Duke.

But, you know what...-blam!- the Spartans(not Johns), -blam!- the Covenant, and -blam!- the flood...We need to see MC get his ass kicked by the forerunners on another Halo ring , but instead of MC dying, he pulls off all this amazing -blam!- and kills the mother -blam!-ers. Hell, that's like crazy there. And he blows up all the rings...

And if John is so strong, he should be able to somehow carry a small minigun like it GTA, but goes real slow and it really inaccurate with it
