Well it seems that the flood has infected the site once again and has a caused the server to phail....if we all take turns we can al see the site, I call first in line!

Just kidding, but I hope the website will be able to adjust to the number ov visitors.

Apparently ForgeHub can't handle the fame. It all went to its head and it just stopped working. :)

We had some corrupted code that we were able to fix. The only problem at first was isolating the problematic code in order to avoid using a backup that was from a week old and lose everything from that week including the Best of 2007 post.

We're back now though so enjoy!

If we had lost that thread, I would have committed suicide. On the spot.

And to whomever said "all the maps are by ForgeHub Guilders...":

Duh. That's why they're the leaders of the site. They make the best maps. It's really quite simple. Only the best are allowed to be Guilders, and, thus, only high-quality maps are produced. Rather than hatin' on it, you should download a map or two and try having a good time. They're remarkably well-made.

I agree they are well made. There is a lot of time and effort into producing and testing them. I have been a part of testing a few of them.

All I am saying is Bungie is pointing out to the mostly unaware million or so that forgehub's list is the compilation of the best maps out there. I disagree with that because there are hundreds of high quality forgers out there who don't even know about forgehub. The list is a little flawed in my opinion.

I love forgehub and love the work those guys do over there, but for Bungie to only recognize that small "window" of user created content is a crime.

I'm not knocking the forgehub guys. I'm just simply saying that Bungie needs to figure out ways to feature the hundreds of high quality forge creations out there.

Kudos to the guilders who have found a way to get their maps "out there" but Bungie needs to step up to the plate and make some changes to accommodate all of the hard work coming out of the community.

Yes we realize that we are indeed lacking some of the other quality maps out there, but part of the contest was to recognize maps posted on Forge Hub, guilder and not. This was in part to recognize those who have been a part of our community for awhile and encourage others to post their maps to share with their community. Our aim is basically to make a smaller, more organized community to share and discuss maps. At the same time implement posting standards in order to insure that everyone can properly understand a map posted by a user. This helps to eliminate hours of browsing the Bungie.net forums looks for the next map. Although some of our staff members do, do this in order to search for maps to features.

To be clear; I'm not knocking you guys at all.

ForgeHub does a great job with their community. I am a big fan of forgehub and give much credit to the site for various "tricks of the trade" etc...

I am simply trying to bring attention to the fact that Bungie needs to get the creative process in gear and find ways to recognize the broader forge community effectively.

We're going to need to rely on sites like Forgehub to help find and showcase the best content out there. Obivously our current systme on Bungie.net doesn't work that great and the volume of user created files is just too much to manage at the moment. We are talking about some possible ways to improve this on the site. In the meantime, we also need help finding great stuff for Bungie Favorites and sharing the best-of-the-best content with the rest of the community. With thousands of files online and new ones coming up all the time, it's proving to be a bit of a challenge at the moment.

In regards to a Forge playlist - we agree. The only reason we haven't already done it is due to a late bug that was discovered that can potentially cause issues when using Forge-edited maps (and specificaly the DLC maps like Foundry) in matchmaking. The good news is that this issue is going to be fixed soon as part of the Halo 3 autoupdate. Once that happens we can unleash some cool stuff into matchmaking.

It's good to know you guys are working on some ideas for user created files. I know myself a lot of other people would appreciate it.

I all I can say is w00t! That sounds awesome, I could only imagine... The thought alone makes my spine tingle with joy, so excited can't wait!

  • 01.14.2008 2:48 PM PDT

Visit Forge Hub for community forge maps, and more.

That does indeed sound awesome... for me, customs are where it's at right now. I know that's a little early in the lifetime of Halo 3 to get to that stage, and the auto-update should get me back into matchmaking occasionally, but really you can't beat a full party of friends getting together and playing whatever you like.
Hopefully such a playlist can capture that feeling. :)

Thanks for the feature guys and hope everyone finds something they can take back to their living room and enjoy playing!

Due to the overwhelming traffic we have been experiencing from Bungie users may experience long loading times or an unresponsive server error (if this happens just refresh the page). If you are having trouble loading the site try to access Forge Hub at a time that isn't a peak time. Try logging on early in the morning or late at night to have uninterrupted service. Note that we do realize that our server is no longer up to bar in order to carry this much traffic and will be upgrading to a much much better server in the foreseeable future.

this would be very nice if this could happen in the near future, otherwise the game might lose more players to COD4 and other games of the like.
I definently need to pull up my CTF ,map now, because I think it would be a major hit.

My appologies if I offended any ForgeHub guys with my opinions. I wasn't trying to make you guys look bad.

There was definitely no need for one of you to remove me from your XBL friends list.

Oh well.

I agree with Sketch. At this point, wading through the hundreds of posts in the Halo 3 Community Map variants is just not fun, especially with limits like the 100 content on HDD and 8 queued files. I for one tend to only grab maps from FH now, since I am always near the content limit.

Also, Sketch, I can understand if the 8-item queue is necessary because of storage or bandwidth on the site or whatever. But why only 100 custom content items? I've got a 120 GB HDD, I want to use it. Can or will this be fixed in the upcoming or a future Auto-Update?

  • 01.22.2008 7:09 PM PDT

In this great future you cant forget your past

I am probably all alone on this one, but does anyone else think that we didn't reach the full forge potential with the default maps, and that the new maps came too soon?<----gross

- My point of view is clouded cause I haven't downloaded the new ones yet, but I am still pulling off some amazing new gametypes with the old maps and nobody cares......
