someone else said you need to do this....

Have you also opened up the necessary ports for GSA to function properly? Ports have to be opened up for all the servers to be seen in GSA. Here are the necessary ports for GSA for your firewalls, router, modem/router and antivirus program.

Working Around the Firewall / Proxy
If you are behind a firewall/proxy and are able to change its settings, Arcade needs the following TCP ports open in order to function:
6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

idk what to do

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Static is right. You need to forward port 2302, UDP protocol, from your router to your computer. You will probably need instructions from the manual that came with your router, or visit Portforward.com and look up your router's make and model.

If you forwarded the ports correctly, you may have to contact your internet service provider and ask them about blocked ports. They may be blocking it on their end.

That is a private IP for your local network. Try http://www.whatismyip.com/.

ok, i see my ip address....now, how do i make it so people can join my server, i created a static ip 192.168.1.101 and set that on my pc and set it for ports 80,2302,2303. now, on the master list, it shows the game and ping number, why cant people still join? its still a private? I scanned it on Gametracker.com and it said cant scan private address. Please tell me what to do.

People can't use a private IP address. Give them the one you got from whatismyip.com. If they still can't join, you probably have to call up your ISP and ask them about opening ports on their end.

how do i give them my routers ip address?? do i just set the route for 2302 to the routers ip? cause when im in the server...i press F1 and it says the private ip address as the server ip address and the same on xfire

i did portforward.com and i have the linksys WRT300N and did this page http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Li nksys/WRT300N/Halo.htm now, do i need to set the pc (not the one im on now) with a static ip? Cause i have DHCP running giving my PCs ip addresses. So, how do i give the public my ip address they need to connect?

Give them the IP address you got from portforward.com. That's your "real" IP address on the internet.

i did, i gave them my actual ip address but they still cant connect. they can see the server on gamespy but cant connect to it. Portforward told me to set 192.168.1.101 to 88, 2302,2303. I did that....then it said make the pc static with the ip address 192.168.1.101 which i did. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Li nksys/WRT300N/Halo.htm exactly what it told me....people cant receive the info they need. I don't understand....my xbox has a private ip but does show the public ip and i can play on LIVE....why cant anyone play on my halo pc server?

could this work?

Halo Dedicated Server (DS) uses UDP port 2302 as default unless you tell it to use otherwise in the start-up commands (if you dont know how to change this it will be UDP 2302).

Your Halo Game client has network settings for the client side network port, plus the halo game client has an inbuilt halo server so there is also a setting in for a server port. These two ports should be set to something different just so your computer and networking devices (modem, router, etc) are not confused. Therefore in the Halo Game client change the client port to 2307, and the server port to 2305.

This will ensure there is not network conflict.

If you are behind a Firewall:

If you are behind a filewall you will need to open UDP ports. Assuming you have changed your config to that defined above open;

UDP 2302 (incoming)
UDP 2305 (incoming)
UDP 2307 (outgoing)

If you are behind a Router and have a public IP Address Range: ie (10.x.y.x or 192.168.x.y etc)

You may need to set the firewall setting above.

You will now need to ensure you enable port forwarding, or whatever your network router/modem calls this service. It might be called network mirroring, Virtual Server or Virtual ports etc. Port forwarding is the common technical term.

First you will need to confirm what the IP is of the machine the Dedicated Server is running. This can be done at the XP command line using the command ipconfig.

For this example I will assume your Dedicated Server PC is 192.168.2.2 and the port settings are set as detailed above.

Now setup port forwarding (mirroring) for the Server ports (the incoming UDP ports)
UDP 2302 to 192.168.2.2
UDP 2305 to 192.168.2.2

Changing the ports randomly (like from 2302 to 2307) probably won't work. Is Windows Firewall on? I forgot to mention it. You can either turn it off or set it up in advanced settings to allow port 2302 UDP into your PC. Sorry I didn't mention this earlier. Also sorry this is taking so long. :(

As for setting the ports, i found it easier to change the ports of the Halo client itself. Your client and server cant share the same ports or ppl cant connect, i never changed the server port just the client. Also like someone else said Whatismyip will tell you what your external ip is for other ppl to connect. I think the 192... is just your intenal ip so others outside your network wont be able to connect with that, they need the external one.

yeah, i know what my external ip is....I gave it out but people cant join it....im trying to break this down....ok, my private ip for my other computer is 192.168.1.101....i have ports 80, 2302, and 2303 set for those ports. I did exactly what portforward.com told me to do. By the way, do i have to change anything on the game I have on the other computer cause I have the same copy of halo installed on the other computer which im running the server on? i really dont think it will do anything but im play halo pc on this pc (not the server) next to it (the server). ok, then i went to my computers network connections and put 192.168.1.101 as the static ip with the correct subnet and default gateway. I rebooted everything and that should do it but it doesn't work still. It shows up on the Gamespy master list and one of my friends can see it too but just cant connect to it. :[ What seems to be the problem?
