LONELY ORPHAN! PLEASE ADOPT!

“How do I see my total kills?”
“Where do I ask about something weird that happened to me in the game?”
“I can haz recon helmet?”

If you’re asking any of these questions, or just want to know what you can do/why you are even on the site, you’ve come to the right article. In this introduction to Bungie.net, you’ll learn about what the site is for, what you can do here, where everything is located, and how to use all of the great features you’ve so fortunately stumbled upon. So to let you get straight into the flow here at Bungie.net, this article has been pieced together to let our loyal fans, which we adore, make their way around this site and reap its benefits. We’ll be starting off with…

The Front Page
On the front page, you’ll find all that’s going on around Bungie.net in a quick summary. You can see the top news stories, the newest articles and FAQ’s, info on Site Updates, Bungie Jobs, and when signed in, your Account Box at the top left.

Account Box/Control Panel – This is where you can see if you have any new messages, which of your friends are online, your groups, and links to the Halo games.

Bungie.net Overview
Bungie.net is a well organized site that will let you easily find your way to all of the sections and pages. The first thing you’ll want to look at is the navigation bar. The links on there are so you can find and dwell even deeper into the main sections of the site. Here’s a quick rundown on all of the links and where you can get to on the site from clicking them.

Projects – This is an archive of all of Bungie’s work. You’ll find the more popular Halo games, along with some earlier projects such as Marathon or Oni. You can read up on important aspects of the different games there, and how they got started.

My Stats – This link is so you can get involved and view your own profile, or those of your fellow members. You can go directly to your own by clicking “My Bungie.net Profile”, or search up someone else’s through the “Find a Player” link.

Bungie Online – This is basically just what you can find on your Xbox 360 along with some other nice features. Here you can view Bungie’s favorites, which are a selection of great maps, screenshots, games, and films approved by Bungie. You can also check out some impressive stats on all the Halo players, who’s online, or you could study the global heat maps and find the best place to snipe from.

Community – This is probably one of the most used sections of the website. Here you can talk with literally millions of other players just like you, check out some cool fan sites, make a group for you and your friends, or post some of your files from Halo 3 to see what people think of it. The first thing you’ll want to jump onto is the community forum. There are different sub-forums for different areas of chat. You can talk about all your multiplayer stories in the Halo 3 section, help Bungie take over the world in the Bungie.net community forum or the Bungie general forum, set up some matches between you and other members in the Optimatch forum, or just unload everything from your mind and let loose in the Off topic forum, “The Flood.”

Inside Bungie – Here you can learn about the inner workings of Bungie, which ranges from Job offers, recent news, a section to meet some of the employees, and a few webcams set up in their office so you can watch them at all times…

Support – Here you can find some information on how the site works (not like you’ll need that now, right?), legal info, contact info, and some FAQ’s and such that deal with common problems such as your Xbox not turning on (plug it in!).

Your Bungie.net Account
Once you’ve signed up on the site and made your account, you’ve already gained access to multitudes of great features and information. To learn about how your account works and how to get an avatar etc, you’ll read the sections below so you can easily make your way through the website and start having a great time.

Your Profile
You can find your profile by hovering over the “My Stats” menu, and click on “My Bungie.net Profile.” On this page, you can view all of your basic account info, such as your email address, your gamertag, and so on. If you look at the middle of the page you’ll see some tabs. From these tabs, you can do a few things, and for starters…

Profile – As said above, this is where you can view the info about your account, such as when you joined, your email address, and all of that sort of stuff.

Saved Threads – Here you can view all of your saved threads, so you can have a quick glance at all of the important topics you’ve recently been keeping an eye on. This is efficient for keeping track of all your ongoing discussions.

Message Center – This is pretty self-explanatory. Here you can view the private messages other members have sent you. You can also choose to block someone, delete some of your messages, and other maintenance options.

Groups – Here you can view all of the groups you’re a member of. You can also look to the left and click on the links to either “Create a new Group”, or “Find an existing group.”

Editing Your Profile
Here is where you can customize your Bungie.net account. The first tab you’ll be taken to is…

Avatars and Backgrounds -
Avatars: This is the picture that will displayed around the website when referring to you. It can be seen on all of your posts in the forums, and on some of your profile pages. There a nice selection you can choose from, or you could also choose to either use a picture of your player in game, or your emblem.
Backgrounds: These are the image that will be displayed on your profile. You can express yourself by choosing your favorite one, and having everyone see it when they view your profile.

Profile Information – Here is where you can change all of personal and public information about yourself/your account. You can also change your signature, which members can view by scrolling over your avatar in the forums. If you’ve also linked your gamertag, you can choose to “Show” the Bungie logo on your nametag in matchmaking.

Blocked Users – This is where you add usernames of the members you want to be ignored. If added, they will not be able to send you messages.

The Community
The Community Forums are one of the biggest attractions at Bungie.net. Here you can talk with other fans and players about a vast amount of subjects, from how annoying grenade spam is, to why there’s no green colored grape jelly. Here are the forums you can post and read, and what to do there:

the only problem is that people who don't read the stickies, which this thread would help, would probably not read your thread for the same reason. otherwise good work.

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

Sweet man that must be hectic. I used to be a mod/admin too, for a site. This should be stickied or added to one that already exists.
