Halo in any other form than it is today just wouldn't be the same for me...

The old Halo looks the same unit/weapon/vehicle wise, but the environments look much better on the Xbox version.
The music is pretty much the same...
The Master Chief sounds lame, the voice acting in general is pretty lame...
The Elites sound pretty cool, but I'm glad they didn't go with Elite dialogue.
The sounds in general are quite good.
One of the doors looks really cool... :)
You can see how they got to Halo from there, but there's a few things just not quite right...
(Edit: The Master Chief sounds very lame.)

But Halo wouldn't be as big as it is today without the Xbox, and visa-versa.

Awesome, "This is what happens when Jason gets involved". I liked the videos, I also liked how all the bungie people were taking the micky out of their managers lol.

As for the voices, they were all placeholders.

The builds wouldn't be something serious, just something to have fun with. They have/had an old multi-player build that would be sweet to play. I like the old mauler & missile pod. I really want a dual carrot craft as well as the jeep and horseshoe crab. Did anyone notice the elephant at the blind wolf part? It may have been an old tank, similar to the elephant in Halo 3.

Cogito Ergo Sum

Wow. I'm sure glad they made it for the Xbox instead.

It's pretty surprising how much they kept the same. The music, the vehicles were almost untouched, and even the speech. Your death is the will of the Gods and I am your instrument. Prophet of Truth?

This is for Bungie staff if they wish to reply but also for the average user, you and me.

To get a quick overview before I ask my questions I'd like to present a history of the pre-Xbox builds.

Public Videos:
Macworld, 1999. Bungie reveals their newest game called Halo. Jason Jones is introduced and a scripted video is rendered in real time of Halo for Mac.
Click for video

2000, another video is shown at E3.
Click for video (Yes, subtitles are in German. They are not part of the original video)

To see many things found in the old builds of pre-Xbox Halo go to:
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Pre_Xbox_Halo

For many of the builds of the pre-Xbox Halo see:
Part 1 (This video is on the Halo 2 Essentials disc.)
Part 2 (This video is on the Halo 2 Essentials disc.)

So now that you've wasted time watching videos, it's time for my question.

If these beta builds were released, would you buy/free-download them?
I would pay for them in a heartbeat.

Do you think Bungie still has these builds?
Probably. I would.

Do you think Bungie would EVER release these to the general public?
I hope so.

So now, make discussion about it.

They were different but still good. There were some elements that I wish were present in Halo: CE but I'm sure they had good reasons for leaving them out. besides Halo turned out awsome anyways.
