Members vs. Members Humpday Challenge
Although most of the members refused to show, Bungie.net members never seem to fail me in quantity or willingness to beat the snot out of each other. Sure, the scheduled game started over an hour after the scheduled time and the scheduled people failed to arrive on schedule, but over all? The games went well. Let me introduce you to the players, a majority of who didn’t even sign up, but instead were tricked into playing. I’m talking about you, Roboto.
I would also like to mention that, although I was on the red team, this review is in no way biased towards red. None at all. No bias whatsoever.
The RED TEAM aka “The Guys Up-range”
SS Zag1 – “Youcan’tgetawordinedge-wiselololollolol”
x Matt Murder x – “This is my warmup round.” (On the third game?)
SS Crow – “Whoops, well, at least I killed the guy on their team too.”
Evil Ey3 – Silent but deadly.
SS ZeeJollyRogr – 2 games of shenanigans, as usual.
The BLUE TEAM aka “The Guys Down-range”
Blue Team may have only done so well, but it’s the teamwork that matters. Right?
Coffey4780 – United we Fall.
El Roboto – United we Crouchwalk.
EpiDemic 1 – United we Corpsehump.
Delta Leviathan – United we Leave After Two Games Without a Word
Duardo – United we Host.
Sasquatch117 – ‘Played’ in the last game as a replacement.
One could argue that the Red Team had some unfair advantanges, perhaps the two letters preceding some names, but that’s just silly. Clearly the game was fair, fun, and full of trash-talk.
Game 1
Team Slayer on Standoff
Tone of Game: Standoffy
The first game was interesting, to say the least. It generally consisted of Red Team assaulting Blue Team’s side of the map, as they cowered inside their base. Some could say this is a valid tactic. I specifically used the word “Womanly”. Regardless, Blue Team put up a fight. They had their moments of triumph, but they were dwarfed by Red Team’s dominance and suppression. I had to mess around with my display settings just to make sure the constant color of blue wasn’t my TV acting up on me. I think I saw the Red base once or twice the entire game.
Crow, on the other hand, had a different experience. BR in hand, he sat on the Red half of the map close to the entire duration of the game. It paid off. You hear that, Crow? Being a girly girl paid off.
Honorable mention goes to Roboto, who seems to be completely lost when not within the confines of his base. Repeatedly I spotted him in the open, like a stray dog. A stray dog I gunned down with my chaingun. When inside his base, El Roboto crouch-walked everywhere. The man knows no limits. He was tricky, but we dealt with him just the same.
Although the warthog was occasionally tearing up the map and the people, Blue Team managed to send us flying (unharmed) quite a few times. We eventually gave up on using the warthog, as it wasn’t very helpful in dealing with the guys coweri—Er, tactically hiding, in Blue Base.
Better luck next time, Blue Team.
Final Score: 100 – 47
Red Team Wins
Game 2
Multi-Flag CTF on Rat’s Nest
Tone of Game: Yoink! Gotcher Flag!
The second game was fantastic. Not only was their plenty of vehicle shenanigans, there was also plenty of intense combat in the center of the map. Repeatedly, Red Team snatched the flag with precision and teamwork. El Roboto managed to keep his base clear for the most part, but it was frequently swarmed with red guys. The first flag capture went off without a hitch.
The second, on the other hand, required us to lay a bit more smackdown on the resilient blue team. Now, I’d like to publicly humiliate EpiDemic 1. Ready for it?
In the final flag capture of the game, quite a few interesting things happened. Firstly, El Roboto is a sneaky man. Almost too sneaky. He looked at our empty base (all of Red Team was busy trashing his base) and seized the perfect opportunity to grab our flag. Yoink. As he began to take it around the outer track with no confrontation (as we had hardly noticed), Crow ran across the middle bridge with their flag.
I’m over by the sniper rifle, and Epidemic 1 sees his chance to kill me, and then repeatedly melee my body. … While Crow walks right right behind him, to our base, to capture the flag. Moral of the story? My body is an irresistible distraction.
Again, better luck next time, Roboto.

Game 3
Shotty Snipers on Foundry
Tone of Game: “Onoes I’m being snip--!” *shotgun to face*
There’s an old saying I heard from a wise man once. It goes something like this.
If you’re being sniped, take cover.
This wise old man didn’t take into account the fact that you might have shotguns as a secondary weapon. The game consisted of ducking behind boxes, only to find someone else was already there to deliver a face-full of shotgun. Chaotic, but fun, this game also consisted of Blue Team using their ‘tactical hiding’ strategy.
Unfortunately, this strategy only ended with a hilarious screenshot. Actually, quite a few, but I’ll get to those in a minute. During this game, it felt much closer than it was. We traded sniper shots like a 3rd grade playground trades Pokemon cards.
At the start of the round, as anyone who has played any slayer variant on Foundry knows, all the chaos erupts in the divider line. Roboto kept with tradition. The game had it’s fair share of close-range carnage and … Well, very close range.
As if we weren’t already worried enough about getting a shotgun barrel shoved into our most delicate areas, sniper shots whizzed through the upper levels of the map. Matt Murder made a point during this third and final game that this was his ‘warm-up round’. Myself, on the other hand… Sorry Duardo, I just got so into it.
Although Blue Team did have their fair share of snipes and shotguns (Duardo clearly had cheated to acquire host) Matt Murder finished the game up with some nice double bubble trouble kills.
All in all? It was a blast, even if Blue Team’s face was repeatedly found underneath the dominating boot of Red Team.
Final Score: 50 - 31
