Please keep at least semi-mature, I am trying to get feedback on why you think either way if it should be blammed or not. I don't really have my mind conclusively decided and would appreciate some intelligent comments to clarify the method behind the blam filter.
Bastard is never used in it's literal or offence sense, and if it is then (in my opinion) it should be taken pride in. As for why that's my opinion ? Well, it'd be too ranty and not suited for the public forums and it'd get too far into political and societal views. If you do see it used in a literal sense, we'll be there, ready to fight. It just simply that it isn't used that way.

Don't prove the case Epi, that wasn't funny.

I don't see the word being abused so I don't know why you're complaining.

The only time I use it or see it used is in light jest.

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

All a matter of taste and background as far as I'm concerned. I don't really consider bastard a bad word. It has a meaning and application. It is just like ass. I can say:

"I rode an ass down the Grand Canyon." or "You're an ass." Context and intention, all of which can be handled by a moderator if something is inappropriate.

I disagree completely with censoring words. This is a mature forum, anyone under the age of 17 (including myself) should not be here, anyone under the age of 17 who is here is acquainted with Halo, the violence, the mild profanity. Anyone from 5th grade on up use the words anyway.

Don't make generalizations like that.
I know plenty of people, myself included, who stay away from those words and don't really prefer to hear them (which really makes me wonder why I ever enter #moap).

Did I hurt your feelings? I'm sorry, I didn't know my generalization was that offensive.

Did I mention sarcasm is great and I really don't care if a small minority doesn't like swearing or hearing the words? I, myself, find swearing offensive, but it can be damn useful in proving a point, if used in moderation.

Did I sound like I was offended? I'm sorry, I didn't know that my words made me seem like I was offended.
Heh.
But still. you've got to take everyone into account in a scenario like this. Not just the majority. Plus, the filter isn't really that strict. On that subject, I don't think that the word bastard really needs to be filtered.

A generalization, in this instance, is harmless. Using it doesn't hurt anyone, nor does it degrade anyone.

I think the filter is a little too strict, however I'm happy we're able to say "sex" now. Now, anything referring to the opposite of hetero-blam!-ity is still filtered, which is imbecilic. I just think it's a waste of programming. We have moderators for things like this, if they get out of hand.

The site uses some kind or Microsoft filtering tool. Whatever they've decided is profanity is. I don't know if Achronos can add or removes words without completely changing system, something I doubt would happen.

I could be wrong though.

That's right! It uses the standard profanity filter that is used by Microsoft, mainly, MSN.

I'm unsure if it is something that is changeable. I'm sure it is though.

i don't really care.
Ahh... I see what you did there, maybe I judged too quickly then, you were being a sarcastic bastard.
I see, nice play. I thought that was over the top, durr, right over my head. Sarcasm is a mother sometimes when you don't know where the person is coming from.
Ahh yes, you win this round. I'll be seeing ya. *evil cackle*

I'm a bastard. Whenever someone calls me that I thank them for being truthful...

...Then they look at me strangely.

^^ Takes something that other people whine about with dignity and turns it into something that he might get a little laughter out of.

*applauds HaloIsMegaKewl for not being a baby
