The necessary recoding can be contracted out. Making it compatible for both xbox and 360 will keep those who havent upgraded in the loop. People who are banned from halo 2 & 3 will also want something to play. It would be a problem with a lot of nubs complaining about how ugly it is compared to the later releases. I think it's a grand little exercise to undertake, giving those who werent able to play via lan's a chance to do so after work.
It's just a far more enjoyable game, it gave birth to serious tricking, launching and glitches and it should be remembered in online form. No game has really grabbed me like halo1 and i am not a game player per se. it's just a hell of a lot of fun.
Bungie has said it doesnt want to go back, understandable, but playing games on a pc (yes i know xbox's are technically a pc) makes me feel kinda dirty inside.
