Get the DS. The PSP looks cool, but it only has three hours of battery life. Plus, it is estimated to cost $50.00 more that the DS.

I'm betting I'm the only person on this thread that has actually even played with a PSP.

I'll get both eventually, but the PSP comes first. Anyone that says "3 hours of battery life" is wrong (It's closer to 6 or so hours), It looks great, the games on it are gorgeous (somewhere between a PS1 and a PS2), reads memory sticks, has a very impressive launch lineup, and only costs $180.

It does play DVD's, i'll give it that.

Correctomundo. I also might just be getting a PSP for a graduation gift from my parents. I got a DS for X-mas and it's pretty cool. Most of the analists(IGN.com, GameInformer, EGM, etc.) have said that the instuction booklet said it's 4-6 hours. But it all depends on what you're doing and what everything is set on. Everything being volume, brightness, and other stuff.
My only problems is what the price for a larger memory stick would be. IGN.com said that everything in the value pack is pretty much useless(but I'll still get it) including the memory stick which only has enough room for game saves. Then there is the "analog" stick. I can get used to it's feeling, but it might interfear with portability. That being you might break it over time by just putting it in your pocket.
Then agian I just might get a big bag to hold all my stuff for both. Or...get two seperate cases specificly for both(DS and PSP insignias in bags).

Incorrect. It plays movies, but they are on UMDs.

You didn't put the niether option in. I don't like handheld games systems. But, if I was stuck with one, I'd make it the DS. They're good game makers you know.

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

It doesn't play DVD's, it plays UMD's or something. Anyway, different format, which means you'll have to buy them all over again. And it is three hours of battery life for movies, and less for things that require the disc to spin constantly.

Edited for stupidity, as I am dumd.

DS because of the longer battery life and more originality. PSP isn't anything new, but the DS with its dual screen, and of course the brilliance of how they are used. I was skeptical if using it for an FPS would work well, but it is awesome.

Also, the DS comes out first; it's already out, for crying out loud. I'm suprised you are so poorly informed, Shishka.

Well I'm not surprised that you are poorly educated because you can't read. He said he'll eventually get both but the PSP comes first. Which means that for him, he would get a PSP before he'd get a DS.

I think you all are complaning to much about the battery life for the PSP. It's not made for the casual gamer. Sony aiming more toward the hard core -blam!-es. Which means that there are willing to spend more money for hardware and want to take full advantage of its capabilities.

I don't really know much about either one, ignoring battery life and design, which one has more features?

PSP hands down.

DS has Pictochat. But PSP has movies(UMD format) and music playback(not sure how it works) aside from games.
