Now that you've taken the time to look at my sig, I actually regret not providing you with something more worthwhile.
.....and more active groups, in no particular order.
Disgusting lies!
For those of you that have no idea what that is, if you go to the top of the page and pull down the community list, you will see a thingy that says private groups spotlight. The quote that is this posts subject is at the top of the groups spotlight page. However, it is an all around tricksy and false statement. The vast majority of the groups listed...NAY! The vast majority of groups are dead. They sit there with huge member counts and a forum filled with inactive threads.
I'm sure many of the readers have already written me off as a negative nancy. However, I assure you I am not. Groups are the main reason I log into Bungie.net. They are what has kept me coming back for 3+ years. However, since I've been here, groups have received very little lovin. The fact that even the groups that fill up our spotlight are dead is a testament to the sad state that groups are in. Shortly after the site update(when we lost Old Blue), there was some group lovin hinted(note: I didn't say promised) at sometime in the future. However, it was flatly stated that the love would not come until Halo 3 did. Well, Halo 3 has come, yet the lovin seems to have faded into the shadows. I simply want to know, can lovin still be expected or am I waiting for a kiss from a unicorn?
In an effort to give something back, rather than make a request, I'd like to offer my suggestions for what I would like to see done to help groups(others, feel free to do the same. I may keep a running list).
1. Beef up the search feature for groups. Something similar to YouTube would be great. Their search is based on key words that the uploader chooses. As it stands now, if I want to find whether or not there is a group of people on B.net dedicated to Bananas, then I have to hope to God they named their group Bananas or that they find me.
2. PM all members(admin only). Yes, it could be used by -blam!-s to spam. However, the members themselves can remedy that by leaving the group. Sometimes, you need to get the word out about something and PMing individually sucks.
3. Give them a purpose. Seriously, I love being able to create a group for nothing but shooting the -blam!-, but it'd also be great if they could be linked to Halo 3 in some way, similar to how clans used to be linked to groups. If the average Halo player has a reason to care about groups, then groups will flourish. As of now, they don't.
That's all I've got for now. I know this came off as whiny, but I'm bored and I want groups to be better, so here it is.
TL:DR?
