I've often wondered why that was. It's similar to Marble Blast where you can move faster by tilting the camera and rolling seemingly diagonally. Whatever the explanation, it doesn't seem to affect the game too much.

I believe that it brings the turret user's speed to around 90 or so percent of what he would have without a turret, which almost completely removes the disadvantage of hefting the turret. but it is only an opinion.

going all geeky:

It may have something to do with the physics of the game . When you run forward you have to push as well as carry the weight of the turret, like pushing boxes in the game, it slows you down. When running sideways, you only carry the weight.

Similar to the original Diablo, you can move faster by moving diagonally with a turret than you can by just moving forward.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug, or is it a design choice? Or is it something else?

Feel free to post any ideas or answers, I won't critique them.

exactly what i was thinking. it is much easier to move objects in halo by knocking them diagonally [ a melee in the corner of box for example]

Hm.. I never thought of that. I always die when I hold that thing anyway... lol I just pick it up, waste all the ammo then jump/drop and hide. lol

LONELY ORPHAN! PLEASE ADOPT!

So say you want to go North... just face North West and then move so you're going North.

i find the turret is a useful asset in two flag capture the flag. the running diagonal 'glitch' does really make the slower speed pointless.

however, you cant shoot in the direction you are travelling, not sure if that is a con but it could be in a certain situation.

I use it to strafe faster while shooting at an enemy.

Yeah I noticed that when I increased the player's speed in a custom game. With any support weapon you can run faster by moving diagonally. Does it make much of a difference gameplay-wise? I doubt it.

You Catch My Drift??????????

Yea I know it,s weird. I was playing cutsom with my friends awhile back, i was running with the turret and I tunred a like bit sideways to shoot at somone. i was like :Omg i thing i'm moving faster" I guess it would work though, In life it would prolly be easier to run diagnolly with a heavy object, then forward.
