I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'm going to anyways xD. I've played halo 2 & 3 on my 360 and both have had trouble staying connected in games. I use a linksys wireless router (WRT54G v5) combined with the usb wireless connector to the 360.

When I join a game, I will either be able to play it out till the end, or it with black out to the score screen and do the "starting new game" and "reconnecting to new host" messages, then I end up with the game saying everyone quit and I'm the "winner." This will happen about 1/3 the time I play a game.

I don't know if it could be the signal strength, or if there's a configuration problem. The signal strength is usually between 2-3 bars (mostly 3) in the network settings part of the 360 dashboard.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before, and/or possibly knows how to fix it.

My NAT is open and my internet is cable.

I have the same exact stuff happen to me but im using a wireless controller and my 360 is wired my NAT is open.

1. Well some people quit and if they are the host it chooses the best connection *the player with the best connection*
2. and sometimes your connection might be bad or lagging.

Ya that sounds correct, but its seems excessive in my case, out of all my friends I am the one who always drops out in game xD.

It also drops out in custom too.

I have the same router and I had to forward the ports for XBL.
This helped out a lot.
Not sure which port it is. (google search it)
But I really don't think that Wireless is very dependable. So if possible I would go wired.

How far from the Router is your Xbox?

I'll try looking up those ports and forwarding, but just wondering if DMZ would work for that :P.

I agree that wireless isn't dependable, but my box is about 40-50 feet away from my router, and a cable would be too inconvenient to run through the house :(.

Thanks for the tip I hope it works :D.

EDIT:
Ports are
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
for anyone who has the same problem (those are straight from a microsoft webpage).
