what is a 'VS" thread?

you brought up how people post about alt accounts. this can be done in ways that are personal attacks, and it can be done in ways that do not. if you see someone say negative things about a user, then you can report the post and it will be looked at. this goes for all forms of personal attacks, and it applies to personal attacks that apply to accounts that are called alt accounts. but, simply mentioning that a specific brand new account with loads of activity has all of the trappings of an alt account hardly seems like a personal attack.

let's imagine that i make posts every day defending the rank system and various settings in team hardcore. then i get banned on 1/20, and i am not able to post. if on 1/20 a brand new account with no gamertag linked pops up with the name 'foot and a halflong word' pops up and continues along the exact same lines and argues all of the same points in all of the same threads, it might look suspicious. now let's suppose that 'foot and a half long word' gets banned on 1/23, and on 1/23 a brand new alt account pops up with no gamertag linked with the name 'very long word', and does the same stuff. now, on 1/27, after a 7 day ban, my account gets the ban lifted, and all of a sudden the activity of the other two accounts stops entirely, and they remain inactive until my account gets banned, and then the cycle continues.

do you think that it would be a personal attack to mention that 'foot and a half long word' and 'very long word' look like alt accounts?

Yeah see but the thing is why should that be on the thread? Couldn't people just PM a moderator? What purpose does it serve to general discussion on the thread?

I mean by all means just PM a moderator if you see somebody who looks "Suspiscious" if somebody just posts it on a thread, its kind of pointless.

And what if the person stating "That guy is an alternate account" is wrong? There is no way they can be 100% if somebody views an "Alternate Account" they can just PM a moderator and get the problem solved, instead of posting it on the forums. This is a much better solution, then stating "You are an alternate account".

what is a 'VS" thread?

VS thread would be something like "COD4 is better than Halo 3".

I think the OP was referring to Samus vs. Hello Kitty: Who would win? type threads.

I KNOW the OP was refferring to the VS threads on the Halo 3 forum. The VS threads on the flood forum are AOK.

At the end of the war. Nothing remains but a few Spartans. We are the only ones left. We are the Last Defence.

We already have a code of conduct/rules for the forums.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

since making my last post, i have received an official warning from a bungie employee about making accusations about a bnet member being an alt in another thread.

if you do not want to be warned or banned, then you would be wise not to say anything about anybody being an alt account. if you want to maintain your posting privileges, then you should not say anything that can be remotely taken to even hint at someone being an alt account. instead, if you see a person making inappropriate posts and you think that he is an alt, you should bring this to the attention of the mods.

Banning someone because the called someone an alternate account? And what if they're right? That doesn't make any sense and I don't think Bungie needs any more rules.

Loads of stuff about alts

Posted by: Achronos
Guys, look, let's clear this up.

1. Report flamewars to the mods via your handy button.
2. NOBODY here has enough information to conclusively show who is an alt except for me. In the end, the moderators and myself will deal with alts as we see fit, generally on a case by case basis. As far as you people are concerned, you walk a fine line when you post on an alt. BUT none of you are moderators, and people who continue to try and use "but you're an alt" as part of the discussion will almost certainly find themselves warned/banned for flaming.

Do I make myself clear?

Seems as though the rule is pretty much in place. Sorry guys.

Ses, if you dont mind my asking who were you warned by?
