OK, Now my current computer specs are not up to scratch and i would like to know what sort of graphics cards and proccesors and ram i would need to bring my computer up to date and let it stay there to support top of the range games for a couple of years.

at the moment my specs are something like 2.6GH, 32MB Graphics Card and 248MB RAM. Now idealy i would like 3.2+GH, 256+MB Graphics Crad and 556+MB RAM.

now if you have any suggestions as to what i should get with a price tag attached (preferably in AUD) and which brands i should get, cause i would like to update my comp befor the release of AOE III later this year.

thanks.

The back of the box should state the requirements for your comp to run the game efficiently.

AOE 3 hu...must look into buying that...on topic you probley do have the right specs to play it due to the fact Doom 3 requires about half of what you have and is one of the more recently made games.

How'd you manage to get 248MB of RAM? How would you manage 556? Most DIMM RAM cards come in the form of a 128MB-512MB stick, and the occasional 1024MB. How could you end up with such odd numbers?

Empires III looks beautiful, but it shouldn't be too taxing. What you have right there will run the game, easily.

--But, update your graphics card. If you don't want to spend +$400, I'd just go with a Radeon 9200.

--->And Tanikaze's right, RAM sizes increase by a power of 2. I.E., 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024...etc.. Something about binary, I think.

I got a new computer for Christmas. It's so awesome, should be able to run AOE III no problem. Here's what I got:
AMD Athalon 64 3400+ (with overclocking) Processor
1 Gig of ram.
3 GHz
ATI Raedon All-In-Wonder 9800pro (built in capture card w00t)
120Gb hard drive

That's plenty to get you're computer up to date.
