Anybody know why I get this when I try to load certain topics? It seems to only happen with large threads. Oh, here's the link to the thread in question.

Is it a Bnet problem or a problem with my browser?

Sorry if this is an old topic.

Edit: The link works now, you had to act fast to catch it ;-)

This is not an error; it simply means that there are no posts on page 36 of that thread yet. You can change the url from 36 to 500 and the same page will show up because there aren't that many replies to that thread yet. Sometimes this will happen in a excessively large thread when you click the last page button. It takes you to that page because it lost count of the replies or at least that's what I assume.

I have never had that happen before. How often does it seem to occur?

Yeah, erm, the system must have lost count. Odd that it would do that and display it in the forum qeue though...

Ah! I've got it! Maybe. It was a rather controversial thread, and maybe somebody was blacklisted? The page in question may have had only one post on it, and the post count disagreed with how many pages should be displayed? The author of the post on page 36 (Sago) now doesn't appear on page 36, but rather in the last slot on page 35. I don't know how that works though, considering blacklisted authors only have their posts hidden, not deleted (I thought?).

Hopefully, if it's a Bnet problem, it could be fixed.

Oh, for clarification, I clicked a link to page 36, I didn't manually type the url. I should've taken a screenshot of the forum, but oh well.

it happens to me also =)

It happens on posts at least 30 pages long. It's not really a problem though. Just a simple click of the back button or a simple url change. =_

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

From what I know this is either a bug in the way the system uses the forums, So in other words the software running the forums has a bug that creates one to many pages and generates that error or the server caching and general workings create a delay between the post on that page and creating the page and numberings on the forum index.

I'm kinda curious now. When or why would you folk delete a post? Unless it contains some really bad links or something, but wouldn't a permaban serve the same purpose?

Most likely explanation? A post was deleted. Not hidden (like for a blacklist) but an actual deleted post or posts.

We ninjas don't typically do it, but when it does happen, it can hose up the 25 post per page counting system and end up with a thread that has posts that haven't "caught up" to the page count.
This seems to appen with blacklists too from my experience, it can be annoying bug and sometimes makes large threads very hard to post in. It is a problem that I think needs webteam attention.

You can edit the subject line every time you reply. I'm not sure when if it shows up immediately, or if the first person on every page chooses the topic (inadvertently or not).
