This is funny. I don't come in here much but I was checking my thread and saw this one. I love the whole, your opinion means little cause your a newbie forum member. Even better is, you don't know what you're talking about and there is no possible way you would know if it's a problem because you're 11 days old. Not like there is a possibility he was lurking for a while and finally decided to become a vocal member. Especially since some people on this board are so enraged when peoples bring up the whole "skill" level issues when debating a topic.

I understand certain forum members are given more leeway than others where rules are concerned. It's not even tied to the new titles consistently and seems to be who knows who. I don't really care, I just say what I have to say and keep it civil but the ability of some posters to claim the moral high road in one thread and then turn around and say you know nothing newbie astounds me. I've even see those members get called on this previously and then state, I deserve more leeway because I've been here for 97 years and you haven't. lolz

Anyway, I am a new forum member so I don't really know what I am talking about. Maybe I should just reports myself as spams.

Wow. Poor halo3 forum. Wait. How can you feel sorry for the halo3 forum? Its a monster with evil little children yelling at each other. I mean. I have more knowledge about the Flood (users/community/topic behavior. etc). But I refuse to know anything about the halo 3 forum. It's what hell looks like for atheists.

^^

Its a forum, the flood is a forum, dont take it so seriously. I still dont understand why the flood, who has to have a sticky about their hormones is talking down on any other forums. I wouldn't mind seeing the moderators getting REALLY strict on this.

To jay, hypocrisy on this site seems to be the flavor of the year for certain members.

Well I never said I was pissed off or anything, I just find it extremely silly and stupid. It happens in almost every online forum really but it actually gets cleaned up quite fast.

I was just wondering if the moderators were aware of it.. I don't understand what my join date has to do with anything.

The point is, that if you have only been here 11 days and have noticed it, then the moderators, who have been here for years, will have noticed it as well.

I usually preach against people making assumptions, but in obvious cases like this, feel free to assume that the moderators are aware of the situation.

We never said his opinion meant nothing Jay, we commenting that we found it strange that he has been a member of B.net for just slightly over a week and is addressing a problem between "forum wars". And you really think people lurk around the forums for any extended amount of time without signing up so they can comment? The moderators are aware of the issue as they were aware of the issue when it was the Flood vs. Zanzibar.

Since Styles P's account hasn't been around since the Zanzibar forum was open, if he made any reference to that it would suggest that he isn't merely a new member. I'm not saying that his opinion on Forum Wars is invalid because he's new to B.net, I just find it interesting that in the short amount of time he's been here he has seen it to such an extent that he wished to comment on it.

I also don't see how you're a new forum member either Jay, but I guess that doesn't matter.

So you brought up join dates in a thread about 2 forums attacking each other. Regardless of your intent it isn't the focus of your discussion so please quit derailing this thread. Thank you.

EDIT: I've only been here for a little over 2 months, is that long enough for me to notice site problems?

But it is a mitigating circumstance to his claim. He claims that it is a problem, but he has no idea if it is an isolated problem or if it has been one that has been happening for a long time because his account is only 11 days old. How much exposure to it does he exactly have in the 11 days that he's been here? Again, I never said that because of his join date that immediately invalidated his opinion on the matter. I said that it was interesting that someone that has been here as little as he has would have seen the perceived problem enough to warrant creating a thread about it.

And I doubt this is derailing this thread since it is quite evident that the thread serves little purpose other than for someone to rant about a perceived problem. Obviously the moderators understand the issue, and they would have much more experience in dealing with it since they've been around a lot longer than the OP. Thank you.

Notice how you are still posting and people are replying to you?

You honestly don't think that it is possible for someone to notice people attacking each other back and forth in 11 days?

So basically if a thread doesnt have a purpose it doesnt have a topic? How about the purpose of this thread is discussing the h3/flood forum issues?

The best part of your entire post is "Obviously the moderators understand the issue, and they would have much more experience in dealing with it since they've been around a lot longer than the OP. Thank you." yes, join dates FTW. Hey smart guy, you do realize the mods cant know everything right? If they all knew so much better, why even have the community section? Exactly.

Seeing as your account is all of 11 days old......I will quote one of my favorite movies; "I do not think "a while" means what you think it means."

I didn't either. I said "means little" and you said you "find it inconceivable". Anyway, I wasn't singling anyone out. I was commenting on the trend the thread was taking even after another "old" member (sorry dude) was >this< close to posting something similar and a mod commented without baiting. If Zag would have made the post, would it have gotten the respect (attention) it deserves instead of it turning in to a you don't know what you are talking about or how can you possibly know anything about it.

Oh, let me try it this time like this:

Even if someone is a new member, the way they discuss the forums clearly tells us whether or not they truly are. Yeah, it bugs me every time I see a brand new account walk in here discussing the state of the website, but this guy is not wrong. These little forums "battles" are just plain annoying. They're not really destructive, they're just immensely annoying. I'm a little tired of seeing it. I'm not sure what to do about it, though. The mods claim to always take care of this stuff, and I think they do a pretty good job. It's just the moments when I see it, it really uh... Grinds my gears. D:

Still, it's all just text. Nothing is an emergency.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

i have not seen these forum battles (i do not go to the flood forum), but i can imagine how they could be annoying, and a real nuisance if they involve certain threads remaining on the front page while other constructive threads get moved back. there are similarly annoying issues in the optimatch forum involving brand new alt accounts being used the second an account gets banned. more often than not, the alt account created to avoid a ban gets banned, and then another alt account gets created, so the disruptive posts never cease.

in any case, we all know the forum rules and we are all able to report spam. if we all report posts that violate forum rules responsibly, then rule breakers should be discovered by the mods and their posts (on that account, at least), will be subject to punishment. if anything, threads like this serve as a reminder to readers to use the report spam feature, which should help clean up the many messes in the forums.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Guys, look, let's clear this up.

1. Report flamewars to the mods via your handy button.
2. NOBODY here has enough information to conclusively show who is an alt except for me. In the end, the moderators and myself will deal with alts as we see fit, generally on a case by case basis. As far as you people are concerned, you walk a fine line when you post on an alt. BUT none of you are moderators, and people who continue to try and use "but you're an alt" as part of the discussion will almost certainly find themselves warned/banned for flaming.

Do I make myself clear?

Loud and. ;)

This is really why I didn't post a thread about it, either. It all gets taken care of. Like Recon says all the time, it's just text, not an emergency of any sort.

And Aznboi, Alt = Alternate Account. (Second account of someone, usually someone who was permanently blacklisted before) They're generally people we don't want around here. But hey, I made no assumptions about anyone.

Forum wars are merely a blip on the radar. A handful of people blow this stuff way out of proportion. 5-6 people argue all the time and want to call it a "forum war. "

Besides, isn't a war suppose to be two sided? You could hardly call a couple jerks in the Flood flaming people for posting Halo 3 related topics in the Flood a forum war.

  • 01.18.2008 11:43 AM PDT

The Flood hates the Halo 3 forum. I often see post showing hatred toward the Halo 3 forum in the Flood. I guess that's why there is a Report as Spam button.
