cmon even the little grunts like the fuel rod gun( well they use them). and the flamethrower is good for defending the base.

Hmm. I mentioned it earlier in a previous discussion, but I've given it more thought now. About the flamethrower - something just isn't right. MCs shields can withstand plasma fire to a certain extent. Now, the definition of plasma is superheated material in which the protons and electrons are separated. This takes many million degrees - like in the core of the Sun. Now, as someone mentioned, flametrowers usually give temperatures of 1000-2000 degrees Celcius. In addition, plasma is actually viscous, while the flamethrower burns gas, meaning that the amount of energy coming from a plasma weapon in a certain amount of time is vastly much greater than that from a flamethrower. So, it simply wouldn't make sense if a flamethrower could destroy MCs shields. (the same goes for when his shields are down, as we know that his armour can also withstand a certain amount of plasma fire even when the shields are down.

I know that Halo is not an entirely realistic universe, but still, such elementary logic as that described above should be taken into consideration in order to maintain a certian credibility.

I knew there was something I didn't like about the flamethrower.

And, I was thinking about it. Give the FRG the same delay as on the rocket launcher and increase the cool down time, and you have got a balanced weapon.

I doubt the flamethrower will be in the Campaign mode, but may be in MP. I'd count on the Fuel Rod Gun, though. There (theoretically) should be no reason for MC to not be able to pick up the FRG in Halo 2. I know, he couldn't do it in Halo, but maybe there's a way to knock a FRG-carrying Grunt unconscious and get the gun before it blows its top....
