I'm having a problem with Halo on my PC. When I try to run it, I get an errror regarding Direct3D failing to intitialize. It also says that hardware acceleration may be disabled, but I checked DXDIAG, and its not. I also downloaded the latest update for Halo, and updated my drivers for the Intel 810 family chipset I have. The same problem still occurs. Can anyone help me with this? I would appreciate it.

Give system specs, as well as some in depth video card info.

My first guess is that Direct3D is disabled, and OpenGL is. That info is in your video card's dashboard program. IE, the program that sets overclocking, antialiasing, etc. For ATI, this is the catalyst control center, but i don't know what it is for nvidia.

What is your comps specs exactly?

Operating system (and what version)
Video Card (with driver version)
DirectX version or OpenGL version

Cause if you ask me, it sounds like your video card is having a compatibility issue with your operating system, either that, or your video cards drivers got corrupted somehow, in that case you need to re-install your video cards drivers.

I'm completely stupid when it comes to video cards. Heh. You'll laugh at me and call me a moron, but I'm not sure what my video card is. I'm thinking its the Intel 82810 graphics controller? Not sure. Anyways, system specs:

50 gig HD
384 MB Ram
900mhz Processor

If the intel 82810 is the video card, I'm sure it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. But I'm pretty sure it should work anyways, as I've tried on my last PC, which was even more terrible than this, and it worked.

oh boy.......ok, it sounds like you have integrated graphics with your motherboard, in that case, im out, i can't help ya, i know nothing bout that setup. But humour me, is your monitor attached to a port from your motherboard, or to an add-in card? (aka is it plugged into something that looks like a board sticking out of a white thing attached to your motherboard?)

Operating system is Windows XP Home Edition. Version 2002. Service pack one, Service pack two is in the process of downloading.
Video card i believe is the Intel 82810 graphics controller? I updated it with the latest driver last night, version 6.13.1.3196.
DirectX version is 9.0b. THe one that came on the Halo CD-ROM.

Device manager shows no conflicts.

Haha, like I said earlier, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to graphics and video cards with computers. I'm not really that smart with computers at all, really. Lets see, the monitor is hooked up to what looks like a serial port? With prongs. Kind of like a serial port.

IT seriously sounds like you don't Have a graphics card, or if you do it's not installed. You can check if you've got one by opening your case, there'll be a big card sticking out of the motherboard (the really big card at the back of your case). If you don't have a card then erm buy one =D
I suggest ATi 9600 series or above. Please note above means above, not below, as the last time I said that someone asked me if a 9550 would be good enough. ATi 9600 or Above.
