I believe that there are an infinite number of parallel universes sitting side by side in the fourth dimension, one for each infinitely small moment in time, and all these universes are moving through the fifth dimension. If a black hole became so dense that it punctured the next 3-dimensional membrane universe into the next one, then time travel would be possible. This would change the future of the universe that you travelled to, but would not change the future of the universe that you came from.

Isn't time the fourth dimension? And in String thoery there are 11 dimensions (if I remember right). String thoery is good because it makes quantum physics and general relativity work together.

Where normaly quantum physics is used for things smaller than atoms. It's an insane world were you can not tell what will happen or even were a particle is at one time.

But general relativity is uesd for very large things like planets. It says that everything is flat and perdictable.

And that doesn't make any sense. Two thoerys for the one universe. String thoery seems to be the way to go.

That's basically what I said except I didn't talk about the dimensions they were in and I talked about space time curvature.

I did a report on Einstein and found out interesting things. He had like 5 affairs, one with his 1st cousin, who he later married. My question is, has anyone heard about the Grand Unified Theory? It was a theory to explain all physical phenomanon from atoms to the whole universe. Einstein never succeeded in it, but it is still pursued today. Does anyone have any information on it?

i like the alternate dimensions theories, because i don't believe that time travel is possible at all. I think that if we ever discover something similar, it will in fact simply be a doorway into an alternate reality which is however many years we tried to go back behind ours.
You can't change the past, because the ripples could conceivably erase you from existane and stop you going back in time, which would create a paradox, causing the entire universe to collapse in on itself.
