Hello All
Now, first time posting - but have followed Frankie & Co's teasers for an awfully long time!
Anyhoo - Everyone knows that Mr Jason Jones has been a long-time fan of Mr Iain M. Banks' Culture books, featuring as they do Orbitals (which are like Halos - but bigger), Drones (which are like Guilty Spark, but possibly smarter, probably better-armed* and equally frisky), Knife Missiles (which are like Sentinels), Minds (which are like Mendicant Bias, but less, er, Rampant**), Neural Laces (which are, well, like Neural Laces) and Big Fun Guns ('nuff said).
Assuming that people who like HALO will like the Culture (and I do***) you can read a little about Iain's new Culture novel, MATTER, below - and you can also join in a competition to win a signed copy.****
Oh well - before the opprobrium is unleashed - do bear in mind that Mr Jones likes Iain's Culture books!
* Could Guilty Spark do *this*?: Drone (Offensive) Kills (Not Too) Many
** Actually, that's not true. Some of the Culture's Ship Minds have gone completely off-the-rails. Look at the 'Attitude Adjuster'. Total psycho.
*** But I work for Iain. But Mr Jones likes Iain too, so there.
**** Here's the link for the compo: MATTER
PS And no, Mr Jones, you can't enter (even though you showed us your underwear - and how long did *that* take me, hurling grenades, running-backwards-with-the-rocket-launcher, despairing-of-the-Fuel-Rod-Cannon-that-*bounced*-off-the-wall s) but we'd be happy to send you a signed copy ... and if you want to advertise MATTER on this site - well, who am I to stop you?
