Is there a mod that you can use to trick an xbox into thinking a computer is an xbox, and vica versa?

My family loves to play Halo together on my Xbox, but the Xbox is currently hooked up to a 27" inch tv that you can barely fit two people on splitscreen, and would like to use the computer to play WITH the Xbox.

Anything?

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I don't know of anything like that, and if there was something like that, then it would be highly illegal.

Xbox Connect tricks your xbox into thinking that your CPU is another Xbox so you can play system link games as if you were on Xbox Live...

Of course not. That would be silly. You're dealing with a console and a PC, two different platforms.

No, it doesn't. Xbox Connect is simply utilizing the PC (not a CPU) and a router to connect to other people over the Internet through a system link on the console; it has nothing to do with Live.

I know that it has nothing to do with Live! I just said "As if" you were on Live. And when I said CPU I MEANT PC.

Thanks for the info though....

It still doesn't trick the Xbox into thinking the PC/CPU is another Xbox.

Bottom line is this: you're out of luck. No way it can be done.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

One day some of the Xbox emulators might support this, but they sure don't right now.

xfire:madkiller92

The onyl game so far that can link windows to xbox live is shadow run with a gold account, and it only links to 360. ANd i wish my family liked halo... they HATE video games of any sort.

No, I mean a system link game, and I supposed I failed to mention that I have a 360 instead of a regular Xbox...

No, AJ. You lie. You can connect to an Xbox through its LAN port using a Linux. If your smart you can fool the Xbox into thinking that the linux is really just another Xbox.

Let me get this straight. You want to ultimately play Halo PC against Halo Xbox using system link? If so then it's impossible.
Xbox Connect tricks your xbox into thinking that your CPU is another Xbox so you can play system link games as if you were on Xbox Live...
XBC tricks your Xbox into thinking it's in a system link game by connecting through your PC to another PC on the internet that's also connected to an Xbox. At no point ever does the PC pretend to be an Xbox. The Xbox connects to another Xbox and the PC acts as an intermediary.

Huh? Fool the Xbox to thinking a Linux machine is another Xbox? To what end? Why would you want to do this??

  • 01.20.2008 7:09 PM PDT

Why would you want to do that anyway? I don't get it. Do you want to use the Xbox and PC at the same time to play Halo? If that's the case, that's impossible (and doesn't even make sense).

The only other reasonable explanation would be that you want to use your PC to trick your Xbox and make it think it's another Xbox? I'm sure that's possible, but why would you want to do that? Doesn't seem applicable for your situation. Though, you could trick your Xbox in to thinking that your PC is another Xbox via a program called Xbox Connect (or XBC, for short). But all it does is let you play over the Internet, and trick your Xbox in to thinking you're playing system-link, when really, it's exchanging data over the Internet with other clients of the program.

That's as close as I can get. If I'm not getting it, can you describe in deeper detail of what you're trying to accomplish here?

EDIT 1.1: It appears as if I should've read-in to this a little more. Oh well. But there is currently no applicable way to have an Xbox and a PC talk with eachother and be able to play Halo together. Halo PC, and Halo for the Xbox are built differently, and there's just a whole myriad of reasons why it's both impossible to do that.

You're out of luck. Sorry. I'd suggest getting another Xbox/TV, and playing system-link in your house.

Hell yeah!

Dude, I understand your point there (split screen is annoying in itself, but 4-screen is of high annoyance), but be thankful your family is actually "cool". xD Seriously, the limit for a "family game" at my place is a Monopoly match. Or a movie...-.- And along with that, I haven't even seen my mom and dad in 10 years...xD

Eh, I don't mind much; I've seen enough childish movies to know the horrors and suffering you must face with your mother! xD
