It doesn't matter. Kids will get the game in their hands some way or another. Like having thier parents buy it for them.

Make sure its not the game shotgun because then you might be point blank and not hit anything

Poll: Is violence and sex ok in video games?  [closed]
Yes, but there should be laws:  52%
(23 Votes)
No, violence and sex in video games is wrong:  2%
(1 Votes)
Yes, anyone should be able to by any video game:  36%
(16 Votes)
(contineu from above) no matter what their age:  9%
(4 Votes)
Total Votes: 44

I just read an article in Time magazine about viiolence and sex in video games and that a senator or somthing is trying to get 2 bills passed making it illegal for minors to buy video games. Ex no one under 17 can buy M rated games. If broken a fine of $5,000 could be issued and some jail time as well. Also in the article it listed the top 5 violent games and Halo 2 was number 4. I belive that there should be something that prevent minors from buying to violent or -blam!- games. I mean when a 13 year old hates an old fashion game of Tetris because nothing blows up, there is somthing seriously wrong. Plus M rated games are ment for people that are 17 and up thats what they say on the game and there is a reason for that rating as well.
It was in an EGM issue and I can't seem to find the one that had the article in it. Any way it was about what kids thought of old games like Tetris, Pong, etc. Well they thought they were horrible and that they need more blood and explosions for 1 thing. Also check out EGM issue 168 on the letter of the month column for a letter about selling M rated games to minors.
Now is the problem the retailers or the parents. The retailors sell the game to the kids and most have a policy that no M rated games to kids under 17, but they most likely don't enforce it. When it comes to the parents, do they even know what their kids are playing or do they have no control over their kids and cave into their every want and whine because they have no idea of how to be a parent and don't want their children to hate them or listen to them whine.
So my question to you is what do you think about violence and sex in video games?

There is no way Halo 2 is in the top 5 most violent video games. I also read something that had a top ten list, and Halo 2 was on it, but then they said that Prince of Persia was a recommended non violent video game. That just proves that they dont know -blam!-.

I think sex shouldnt be in video games or movies. Violence is okay as long as its not too much. 'Langeugae' should also be left out of movies and video games in a major way.

I still don't understand why Halo 2 is considered extremely violent. It's not like Half Life 2 where people's stomachs are split open and are still alive and screaming with the headcrab attached to their head. Doom 3 has people that turn into zombies and getting eaten by zombies. GTA you can have your way witha hooker then kill her. I don't see Halo 2 being NEARLY on the level of violence as the other 4 games.

See I think that violence is good and fun an stuff but kids should be informed properly about how violence in games is a whole lot different from the real world. Parents today dont know how to keep an eye on there kids so when the kids do something wrong its blamed on violence in games an movies which causes others to suffer by haveing stupid ratings put on the games... so in general give more violence... but seriously parents need to be smarter about what they get there kids. Oh and this game isnt all that violent in my opinion I have played much more violent games.

I'm 14 and I play M rated video games. Why? Because I am mature enough to understand that this is fiction and that it's horibly wrong and illegal to go out and kill someone. Although, I think they should have that rule that people under 17 shouldn't be buying them. This would make sure that the kid's parents are aware of what games they are playing. And sex shouldn't be part of video games, go buy a porno film or get yourself a birl/boy friend. Violent games are ok, as long as you understand that they're fake. I relieve stress by playing violent games. I can release my aggrivation upon a non-existant figure. It works.

I cant believe that h2 came forth, they must have taken random M rated games and ranked those five, or perhaps just the five most popular games were chosen.

That bill is a train-wreck waiting to happen. There are many struggling game stores in my area and all of them would consciously disobey this rule because they almost exclusively rely on the 17 and under crowd to buy games, and many of those games are GTA: SA and Halo 2. The only way that this law would be enforced is if a cop was at every register in every game store across the country. Excluding stores such as Circuit City and Best Buy that are more established and wouldnt be as effected by this law.

And im from the stupid-assed state that elected that governor. It was a lesser of two evils situation too. Damn Blagohavich(sp?).

I think that violence in Video games is best left to the judgement of the player or parents. I don't really see a problem with a 13 year old playing an M rated game as long as he has the discretion to not let it encourage him to do real violence.
While I think a few games like Manhunt and GTA go a little over the top, I really don't see anything wrong with violence in video games. Even an 8 year old knows that it's just a video game.
And the cases where video games were accused of causing someone to do violence, those people already had problems to begin with. Not every kid who plays GTA is gonna go kill a hooker.

Anything should be allowed to be put in a game as long as ESRB puts their stamp on it. If it sells, then there's obviously a market for it. Stores should also decide if they're willing to sell a game with all of the risks involved.
Once Politicians (or anyone, really) places one law around what can/can't be in a game, then the creativity of games will go down.

You know,i was just going to write a short statement about my opinion on this poll's topic untill i saw the statement this egotistic dumbf**ck has under his posts.I belive his screenname is agent404.Well let me tell you something agent404,have you ever considered the possibillity that nobody gives a f**ck whether you want to learn new Halo 2 skills or not. And while you gripe about self proclaimed pros being n**bs,who except for yourself has ever proclaimed you to be a pro.If you hate Halo2 because of the inexperianced players, then it really sucks to be you, because belive it or not,Halo 2 is actually an exceptionally good game. While you criticize the newer players of the game, keep in mind that you too started out just like them. And just a suggestion but,you should stop -blam!-ing about the changes in Halo 2 and learn haw to play as good as you could at Halo with the changes because if you don't players who are smart enough to make the game transition will start kicking your stupid @ss.So shut up bragging about how good you are and open your mind a little, dumbass. If your not hear right now, then i hope you come back and read this because it's about time somebody set you straight.Oh and fellow forum patrons,if you see agent404,please tell him to go to this poll and read this.Thankyou
