99% of the problem is either the server you are on has to many people or , your isp routing and upload is not sufficient. Give them a call and ask what their upload is . Download and upload on cable modems are controlled by a boot file . So you don't leech your street or area you live. If you notice on the electrical poles at the end of the street there is a small box. There is a node down there. That node controls the traffic if it is bad you will see poor internet service and poor gaming...

do you have ADSL or cable?? Cable tends to fluctuate (like one day u can download something at 500kbps and the other only manage 150) but it also fluctuates on the upload. ADSL is much stabler i have found, but you download isnt nearly as fast, just a steady 200 all the time. Also, if ur connection really sux, set your internet settings in Halo for 56k. U will get the least amount of info in the world update (i THINK thats what is called), therefore lowering your ping.

ok well 600k broadband means didly (sry for being blunt). It is important to know if you have cable or dsl. If you have cable, a sudden increase in people using the internet with your provider will cause your upload/download to be much slower. As well, it may be effected by the newest update (there is a new update right?? Like version 1.5) I havent play Halo PC (CE ALL THE WAY) for a while. Also, how is your comp connected to the internet? if you have a router, there may be a new firmware update.

Im not to sure about a router, but i heard XP has some sort of default Firewall i think.
No others games are affected.

That's how a friend of mine gets away with hosting such nice Halo servers though he has a very dated system. He has a cable modem but he lives right next door to one of the nodes or whatever they call where they transmit from.
