A while ago I saw a riddle thread, so I decided to make a logic question thread. First of all, do any of you have any logic questions if so post them.

I guess I'll start it out with an easy one:
You have to make a choice between two directions at sea. One direction will lead you to an island of all truth tellers and one will lead to an island of all liars. You meet a wandering sailor who came from one of the islands, but you do not know which one. By only using one question determine which way to the truthful island.

Hint: THIS question doesn't have to be yes/no but the next questions might be yes/no questions

He came from the truth one because if he came from the lieing one he would say he came from truth island so he came from truth island. :)

you answered the wrong question, but you were actually on the right track

I wanted to know where the truthful town is not where he came from.

Are you a sailor?

That would work to find out if he was a truthteller or a liar, but what you want to know is where the truth island is. You would be on the right track if you could ask more than one question. you could (1) ask him if he was a sailor (2) determine whether he was thruthful or not and (3) ask which way it is to the truthful island based on number 2.

The problem is you can only make one question/command - it doesn't actually have to be a yes or no...

I edited it because i realised what the question was asking... but if you asked if he was a sailor, then if he says no, then hes a liar, if he says yes, hes a truthteller..

it does fir he said it was 1.7 meters long and didn't state the width or diamater if its round.
It can have a diamater of .5 meters and be 1.7 meters long it will still fit.

Two builders want to get a metal pole through a door. The door is 1 meter wide, 1 and a third meters tall, and the pole is 1.7 meters long. How do they get the pole through the door? Will the pole even fit through the door?

It's a pole. Just flip it horizontaly and you can fit it through, no matter how long the actual pole is... Am I right?
