Is it against the rules to change the thread topic when you're the 25th poster?

All posts should always be on Topic of Post #1.

From reply 1 to infinity.

A new pages means nothing. You should stay on topic in the post or else it will be be counted as spam. =)

No, I mean, you can edit the title if you're the 25th post.

I guess you can. I don't see why not. If you are the OP and want to change the thread title then you should still keep it on a basis that's still on topic.

You can only edit the thread title if you made the thread yourself.

I don't know if it's against the rules or anything, but it would be better if the title were changed to something still similar to the topic at hand, to avoid confusion.

While there is no real reason to change the title displayed on the latter pages and/or posts, I usually don't take any action unless it has been edited to something inappropriate. I'd advise you to avoid changing it, but I probably won't ban you if you do (unless its offensive or inappropriate).

I don't know how the other mods react to that though, so tread lightly.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that he has found a bug where being the 25th poster in a Topic allows you to edit said Topic's Title. I may be wrong, but that's what it looks like he was saying to me.

I believe the OP is talking about the ability we have to edit the subject line at any time, but specifically when the thread is pushed to more than one page, where it displays that edited subject on the header of the thread. Just as the displayed subject line on the second page will likely say "don't change me man" unless someone edits it if this thread warrants another page of replies.

Basically, I believe we should all agree not to do it. If it happens every-once-in-a-while that's fine whatever... but if it becomes a common thread like "ghost editing" back in the day odds are it'll land you on the blacklist in due time.

Oh I understand now. Like when someone makes a topic then after x people post they change the title and the topic to make said posters look like they are posting off-topic. I've seen it happen...

Okay, what about if you make a certain thread but then you decide that you want the thread to be a little different, but it would still be about the same topic? I remember after E3 2007 I made a thread that had a title of "Smoke Grenade?" (Even though I was wrong about it. Then I changed it to "Fouth Grenade discussion Thread (Formerly 'Smoke Grenade?' thread)" about an hour later since it was a quite popular thread. Even though it's a dead thread now, are members allowed to do something like what I did?

Could you all be so kind as to get the post count to 24 so I can change the thread topic?
