I was playing the campaign in halo yesterday and i realized that when a elite or a flood combat form tries to melee attack you and you dodge to the side you still get hit even though you are clearly looking at them from the side. i find this to be really annoying and i hope it gets fixed in halo 2. in Halo 2 MC gets a new suit of armor so he has more health or sheild whatever you want to call it, my question is, is regular melee attacks going to be weaker then before or does MC hit harder because of his new suit. I'd be dissappointed if MC didn't deal as much damage but i gues it'd be alright. any comments?

I think that the idea behind that is the fact that if you're standing right next to them then you're going to get hit on the backswing. There is a way that you can go around them without them hitting you, but I don't really know how to describe that to you on the forums. Also, the flood have whip arms, which would just swing around and hit you anyway.

i like the idea, but id rather just have MC hit just as hard as Halo, but it would just take more 2 kill sum1

Rolling would be a great improvement, when you need to dodge ghosts or sumpthin.

i know how to circle around people when they try to hit me but sometimes it just looks like you should have been able to dodge the hit. like lets say for halo 2 if you don't start moving out of the way fast enough you still get hit but the animation for the elite or flood doesn't keep on going foward which looks like it won't hit you but instead turns slightly towards the direction you are. that'd seem more realistic looking to me.

Have a stun affect.
When you melee'd covenant like an elite he'd hold his stomach in pain for sec.

I find the hit bubble really annoying. I sometimes find myself BEHIND an Elite and still getting hit at the end of his motion. It's a bit more believable with the Flood I suppose, because of the long whip.. it has a huge range.. that spindly little arm shouldn't hurt you at all really. Haha. The Hunters aren't so bad.. I get hit most of the times I jump over them as they swing. You have a pretty big hit bubble too, though.. if it wasn't there you'd never hit anything when you're in motion.. having to make actual contact would change melee a lot.

Edit: Ha.. I forgot to add. The idea with Elites at least is to hit them before they hit you.. it stops their animation and stuns them. Then you can keep doing it an beat 'em down.
