The legs from the Masterchief theme are still showing. But, I like that Guardian mix in.

I'm aware of that, just putting it in as a reference. I will put my own images in there eventually...

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

Photoshop, generally.

Hi all...
Decided to join the fun and create a theme i would like to see (for my group).
I've been watching this thread for a while now, since i'm into graphic design.
I like a lot of you guys ideas and creations but i have to say it seems like a few of you keep coming back with new stuff quite frequently. Truthfully i would recomend that you concentrate on 1 ! Tweek it, change it, look at it a lot. Eventually you will have a work of art but you must dedicate to it instead of trying to make new ones. Understand this...
If Bungie is to actually use your work and put it up on B.net groups they will not be looking for something that's 75% done or 90% effort because you moved on to a new theme.

Any way i have a question that i haven't seen being asked (maybe i missed it)
stosh do you know what the fade or transparency percentage the home page has ?
(where you can see the bacground through the letters and news)

thanks
Mike

I'm pretty sure that the people who are actually dedicated to this project aren't putting in 75% of their effort. Just because some of us make another theme, doesn't mean that our original wasn't worked hard on.

I, for one, have asked the Community, my groups, my friends, and my family what they thought about my first entry before I even thought about submitting it. Like I said before, I don't send in my work until it has been critiqued more than once. I have also seen this with some of the other participants as well. I think we know what we are doing :) Thanks for the suggestion/imput, however.

As for the transparency, I don't think it really matters. Depends on how light or dark the image is in the first place. As long as you'll be able to read the text over it clearly, it's good.

Hey Girl...
I did say a few o_O

and ya the trnsparency matters because knowing what it is i can adjust my bacground acordingly to either show more or less of the picture.
Seeing how u use photoshop you should know this

Likewise, I like to get as many opinions as I can before sending them in...

I'm still tweaking my originals a bit and making a few more that will hopefully get somewhere...
Anything with photoshop is so much PHUN! I've tried other pallettes and they all pale in comparison... or mimic to the T. I wish there was a video editing competition because that is my Forte... either adobe premier or final cut for me.

If you had read my post thoroughly, you would have saw that my previous context had explained pretty much exactly what you just stated; the fact that it shows more or less of the picture. It's called opacity. Seeing how you use Photoshop, you should know this.

Your original question, or what I thought you were asking, was the exact percentage of the opacity that Bungie required. I replied with: "It doesn't really matter, as long as you can read the text."

nvm Girl...
I'm sorry if i offended you
:(
edit:
oh and maybe we are not understanding each other o_O
i wanted to know the transparency of the foreground (letters and news) not my picture behind it. By knowing it i can make MY pic brighter (witch will show more or darker which will show less)
Do you not agree ??

Luv. We all can has it. Togethr.

The picture can be as bright as you wish, but generally you apply a clear fill over it. My opacity generally runs at around 60%, varying, or course, on how bright the original picture is. The fill is what you fiddle with, not the brightness of the original picture.

And likewise, I sought out as many opinions as I could before I submitted my theme. Anyone who's stayed with this thread has put the utmost effort into their theme.

It really does depend on the image as well... 60% opacity is about right for a good amount but I've dwindled into the 30s region. It is imperative that outside opinions are sought.

Is that the only reason you're participating? o.o

Honestly, just having the satisfaction of going to my group and seeing my own theme is a big enough prize for me. It's been a dream of mine to have my artwork somewhere within Bungie.

That's why I was disappointed when I entered my emblem design, didn't even come in the top 12, but found it to be in Halo 3 when the Beta was released. Maybe from someone from Bungie thought of the same idea, but it was pretty darn close to be coincidental.

Ah well, not much I can do about it now I guess. Just to hope for the best in this event :D

Well, though that's one of the rewards, I just like the thought of something of my creation being used by millions of people.

"Peace, gentlemen...
Peace is the ultimate goal of the Traxus Project.
Peace not in our time but in the future.
Future generations will benefit from the work begun here today.
Gentlemen, I give you the Traxus Project"

Interesting. I may possibly get into this....

Umm...

What exactly can not be done. So it can be avoided.
Idk if that's been covered yet?
I don't want to steal anything or do anything wrong in the process.
Anything less than obvious I should know about?

I honestly don't think anything can NOT be done as long as it is relevant and not innapropriate. I mean the best way to see what has been done would be to scroll through the pages and check what has been done. I promise that if you have an idea it will be different in many ways as the others.
Other than that you just pick a palette and play around. Go by what Stosh originally posted so they can be considered.

Yeah. As long as you have a Bungie-related idea, and go by the general template stosh posted, its not hard to create a great theme. Just look through this thread for ideas.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Okay guys, I think I've finally finished it. Instead of adding more to my theme, I just tweaked tiny bits; barely noticeable, but some changes none the less. Tell me what you think.

Also, as to the question way above asking what programs people use; I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.

I'm not a fan of the blurry Marathon logo for the Group Homepage. Everything else is "Very Nice!"
