Rokit, in the CSS file find
div.group_hub div.group_hub_nav
At the end of it, add
background: url(your_background_image.gif) no-repeat;
So for example, mine looked like
div.group_hub div.group_hub_nav { position: relative; margin: -275px 0 0 0; background: url(your_background_image.gif) no-repeat; }

Great, thanks virus, I appreciate it.

Edit: Thanks to Firebird as well. Appreciate it you two.

Updated the themeBuilder to allow customization of the avatar that appears in the top right (emblem.gif in the root folder) and also made some minor tweaks (removed unnecessary copies of group home page theme pictures located directly in the theme directory)

Nice work Firebird, that should be helpful to people. Perhaps you should include a few more CSS files if people want to work off the style of other themes.

  • 03.13.2008 11:33 AM PDT

I...really...don't get how to use the theme builder...

Which CSS file do I look in? Then, how do I see my custom theme?

Sorry, I just know nothing about CSS.

Same. I'll just stick to Photoshop.

I can stick to Photoshop if need be, but Firebird, is there any way to make the zip readable on a mac?

EDIT: I see now. The mac was storing the zip as unreadable, but I could do a little whiz-bang to open it. The tar is much easier to use though. Thanks again!

Those of you sticking w/ Photoshop: It is possible you are making a theme that stosh won't be able to easily implement which greatly reduces the likely hood of your theme being used. I am available (on and off) to work on CSS for people if you don't know how to. If you give me your images and a screenshot of the entire thing I can probably make it work using css.

In response to WalkinBonfire, I made a tar file for all you mac and linux lovers out there. You can find it at http://theoreticalchaos.com/Bungie/themeBuilder.tarPosted by: WalkinBonfire

One final note. I am working on a remake. Look familiar?

Finally, SOMEONE gave us a themebuilder. A thousand's worth of Thank You's to Firebird for taking the matter into his own hands.

Here's a pic of a Flood theme I made and scrapped early last month: Flood theme

I was going to tweak my first theme, but it's just too similar to one we already have, and even more similar now that we have the new bungie community header.
New default theme
New default forum
Keep in mind I made and finished the skin one day prior to the the first theme update, so I had never seen 'Bungie Community Theme 1' until after this theme I made was finished. I'm not accusing anyone of stealing my idea, that's ridiculous. If anyone has an idea of what I could do to it or still use the images somehow, please let me know here.

Oh god, my eyes! Sure, it's was a good theme, but it always seemed to make my eyes wig out.

It IS as bad as you think and they ARE out to get you.

This answer your question?

The Themebuilder (win zip) (mac/linux tar)
For all of you who have been looking for a themebuilder, your dreams have been answered.

I took the time to put together a theme builder. You can find it here.

The zip contains
* two html files in it. These are the different group pages (groupHome.htm is the Group Homepage and groupForum.htm is the group forum page).
* two directories. static and theme. do not modify anything in the static directory!!! it is not part of a theme.
The final directory, theme, is where the magic happens. The main css file defines the theme, with the two other directories containing images used in the theme. The current theme is Community Theme 3 (the splatter sign). You can change anything in the theme folder to make your theme work, adding/removing files, highly modifying the css file.
If you have questions/comments either post theme here or PM me.

Hope you make some great new themes!

-Firebird347

Stosh ( in a pm):
Looks good. Post it. It's official.

Edit: Added mac/linux downloadable tar

I like that, my only problem with it is the sidebar. To me, it sticks out too much. Try darkening it up some around it.

It probably wouldn't have stuck out so much had I not blurred the text. But that's an idea--I'll see what I can do about it.

That's pretty cool man.

Hmm... i'm not noticing any "multi player" themes though, as stosh asked
and i know i said i'm only submitting one (which i did) but i think i'm gonna take up the challange and make ONE for multi.

edit:
Firebird347
tks for the theme builder but unfortunately for me i can't use it (no programming knowladge)
so TKS very much for your effort but i'll stick to photoshop.

Better? I don't know, maybe the sword should be darker.

Much better. The only thing that keeps bugging me now is the white outline of the sword. That's just me though.

I like that, and can we see it without the blurred text? I think that might make affect how the sidebar fits in with the theme.

I had the homepage of my group (Ivory Tower) as the original template, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll see what I can do.
