Deus,
You have to acquire the css of a theme that uses that technique, and edit it from there. Or, alter the themebuilder's css by copy and pasting this into it, right under where it says "div.bgBottom { height: 0px;}", towards the top.

div.newsblock1 { background-image: url(struct_images/insert file name here); background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: top left; padding-top: 0px; width: 100px; }

div.newsblock2 { background-image: url(struct_images/insert file name here); background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: top left; padding-top: 0px; }

Oh, I see... I saw a <div class="block-a newsblock2" ... >. I tried to look for them in the stylesheets, but it didn't occur to me that that class wasn't being used...

Thank you, it should be simple from now on.

Okay, listen here:

Right-click the file. Choose Open With > Paint.NET. Click Image > Resize... and then type in "631" into the "Width" box, making sure that the "Maintain aspect ratio" box is checked. Now you can put in the gradients (or darkened or lightened areas) for the title and lower text (or you can just skip that if the text color you have set allows it). Now save this as a JPEG image in the "struct_images" folder in the theme builder. Name it group_top_banner, replacing the existing file with this name.

So that's how you make the main home banner.

Also note: if you know CSS, you can adjust the banner's height, but the default height is 260. If you don't, just crop your image to be 631px by 260px.

Couldn't decide which one is better here so I listed both. I'm not going to choose, I'm just going to submit both.

Those are both nicely done but I'm leaning towards #2.

Hmm... I think the first one looks more realistic. Although a bit too white.

Well, it's been a while since I tried my hand at this. I opened up the file today and did some more work. Here is the result. Let me know if you have any feedback. I started work on this many months ago, but have actually only put a handful of hours into it. The only thing I want to change at the moment is the highlight color for the directory links. At the moment it's gray, but I want to change it to blue so it matches the text. Anyone know how to do this?

Sweet theme, I was hoping someone would use that artwork. To change the highlight color, the underlined part is what you're looking for under the / * right column nav * / section of the css:

div.group_hub div.group_hub_nav li a:hover {background:#303436; color: #fff; text-decoration: none; }

Change that hex code to whatever blue shade you'd like.

If anyone's having problems with hexadecimal colors, look here. That color mixer was much more user-friendly than anything else I've come across.

Thanks plenty, Fors. That really adds to the theme.

One other quick thing and I'm done. Forever. On the forum banner, where it says the below quoted, is it possible to change the hex codes for the link and title? The default color stands out too much against my dark banner.

Inside the Machine
Group Home
I tried searching the code myself, but met with minimal success. Minimal in this case meaning none at all. And just to be clear, will I need to update any site images on this theme before its submission? I noticed the footer and header are outdated, as well as the background. Does Stosh take care of this, or do I?

Find the code that says this:
/* group forum header */
div.group_forum_header { width: 902px; height: 80px; background: url(struct_images/forums/HeaderGroupForum.jpg) no-repeat; }
div.gforumtitle { margin: 0px 0 0 14px; color: #000000; font: 20px Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; padding-top: 20px; font-weight:bold; }
div.gforumtitle a { color: #000000; text-decoration: none;}
div.gforumtitle a:hover { color: #A0A0A0; text-decoration: none; }
div.mini_hub_forum_link {margin: 2px 0 0 14px;}

Change div.gforumtitle a color to whatever it needs to be, and same with div.gforumtitle a:hover (for the hover link color). As far as the "Group Home" link, you need to add the following CSS lines for that to change:

div.mini_hub_forum_link a, div.mini_hub_forum_link a:visited {color:#000000;}
div.mini_hub_forum_link a:hover {color:#ffffff;}

Again, change the hex colors appropriately.

Does this apply to Images I have submitted to be used as player profile images? I never planned on them being used for actual groups and forums. I just wanted mine as a player profile background. Will I have to change them, then resubmit?

You're talking about user skins. All information found in this thread relates to group themes. If you've submitted your skin as specified in the above linked thread, you should be fine.
