So..were not actually aloud to change the layout of the page?

Because I was thinking of putting the Nav-bar on the other side of the page, and sliding the Group Header across. Maybe another thing or two.
While stosh hasn't officially said, chances are layout changes are a no go. Also note that you can not change the HTML in any way to make your new layout because the themeing system for the groups doesn't work like that/allow it, you can only change the layout with css, and many of the objects in the layout have default width's (embedded in the html) that can't be changed, which makes it difficult to do things like rearrange the group home page.

Yea, those limitations are the ones I was worried about, as I know about the embedding in the HTML. And yea its the CSS file i've been tinkering with - just rearranging stuff, rather than re-sizing due to the defaul widths etc.

But anyways, thanks for the responses, ill just stick with the fonts, colours and pics etc.

I would love to make a theme, however I don't have any good programs like photo shop on my computer to do so.
Same here. If anyone knows of a way I could make one without photoshop, I'd like to know. Preferably on something that runs on Mac.

Paint.net is a great free editing software. Though, I'm not sure it runs of Mac.
I got so much stuff to do this weekend, I'll try to see if I can submit a theme.

Considering it's called Paint.net. one would assume that it was written in a visual studio programming language such as C# or C++ or even VB, and therefore runs on the .net framework. In which case, NO it does NOT run on a mac.

TIP: You can always check the system requirements at the official site if you're even unsure!
Oh are u still checking 7hemes@gmail.com Stosh!?

The Gimp is a good option. Only problem is it has a sharp learning curve. It's the closest thing you can get to photoshop that is free.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 is $999. If you're a student, you can get it for $299. I think that $700 cheaper can make a big difference.

My experience loudly proclaims that Gimp pictures turn out with fairly low quality.

Come check out the The Christian Halo Union. Whether you’re looking for fellowship, intelligent discussion, positive gamers, or maybe you just want to have fun, you'll find it with us. With over 650 members and counting, we're the most active Christian group on Bungie.net.

Perhaps it's just you. My experience with Gimp—though by no means professional—has been fairly successful. There are people out there who can amazing things with this program. You just have to know how to use it.

  • 08.19.2008 8:40 PM PDT

I also have some things I've made in gimp which have turned out really well.

Low vs. High Quality is all in how you use it. Just sit and tinker for a while then you'll be able to start making cool stuff.

I realize this has no pertinence to the subject of this thread, however it was too strange to not point out. Take a look at the Subject in the upper-left corner.

EDIT: If you click on other page numbers, the Subject changes to several other messages:

Page 48 & 49: "SCOTTY OWNS U"
Page 50: "Firebird347 Rocks! (not to boost my ego or anything)"
Page 51: "Made you look"
Page 52: "New Theme Master gets cookie"
Page 53: "3.1415926535897932384626"

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere in this thread already.

Ah yes. It was only mentioned before. Whoever has the first post of the next page of the thread has the ability to change the thread title (only for that page though.)

Actually, anyone who posts can change the title of the thread, just change what it says on the subject line. For example, whoever clicks the reply button on my post will end up with their subject line being PI.

Just a quirk in how Bungie.net's database is set up. Posts have titles, not threads. It does, however, make it easier for them to code changing the thread's title ...

Not to be rude or anything, but the sidebar is... horrible...

Try to use Paint.NET, Photoshop, or GIMP to make a good gradient and maybe put an image on top of it.
