ok so we have all heard that bungie fixed the cheating problem in halo 3 right? well thats what i thought until last night when we went into team slayer and got standbyed by the same people twice in a row. the first time we thought it was my friend because he has had connection problems but the second time we got matched up with the same people so we asked him to quit out and we were still straight red and lost 50 to 16. i have the videos on my file share if you dont believe me. we did good on valhalla and almost won suprisingly but the second time on construct was horrible. if you watch the vids pay attention to the time, score and press select every now and then to see how we wouldnt spawn while they just walked around. oh and after the second match they even admitted to figuring it out so yea it wasnt "a bad host" as people would call it. so i want to know what bungie is going to do mainley because if one idiot figures it out then a lot are going to and then what happens? it becomes like halo 2.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, has Bungie ever stated that they "fixed" standbying. Bungie can't "fix" standbying because it has nothing to do with their game. Standbying occurs when somebody presses their standby button or uses their bridged connection to standby using a firewall.

What Bungie can do is ban people who standby from their matchmaking. What you can do is leave bad feedback on them and avoid them. I'm sure you noticed the people complaining about being banned for no reason. This was Bungie trying to keep people with a recurring bad connection from playing matchmaking including legit connection problems and the people who standby. This also forced the people with legit connection problems to fix their connection and make other people's games more enjoyable and keep themselves from getting banned again.

They are not modders, just cheaters. No modders online in Halo 3 yet.

You should never assume, under any circumstances that a gamer was standbying. From what I am aware of, Bungie is working on implementing a more efficient Halo 3 banhammer in the first scheduled automatic update, in which the release is still... to be determined. As for solutions on what you can do, try using the Xbox 360 guide features to help improve your online experience. There are features that allow you to mute a player, avoid a player, and even file a complaint just from accessing the guide.

I know that you may not be familiar with how the Bungie.net forums operate, but each forum is dedicated to a specific topic. To avoid posting off topic, which may lead to a unexpected warning/suspension later on, I would suggest reviewing the Forum Rules and stickies at the top of each forum. Because this topic is not directly related to Bungie community activity and discussion, I would kindly recommend posting this thread in the Halo 3 Forum, located here, to receive more beneficial replies. Thank you for your cooperation.

it is impossible to prevent that and also there is already modding in halo 3. it is just that this time the modding community does not want the same thing that happened on halo 2 to happen to halo 3 so the modders are keeping it a secret until they can make a custom kernel that only allows them to mod halo 3 off line and not be able to access xbox live. they hate what happened on halo 2 and are very sorry. it started out on halo 2 for fun then the people started cheating so now the modders are making shore that there will be no xbox live modding for halo 3.

Read that I said there is no modding online yet. There's no way to make a kernel that keeps people off of xbox live to my knowledge.

They are not keeping it secret because every one knows about the Halo 3 modding. They just aren't releasing the tools to public because of the average 12 year old in Halo.

dude trust me i know about this and they have released the tools to the public they are just not releasing how it is done yet. although i have some inside info and trust me on the custom kernel. there are already custom kernel's out there the only thing is that they cant keep you from getting on live yet but that is what they are working on and if they cant figure out how to keep people from getting on live they wont be releasing anything.

also i am not going to post anything more in depth in to this so you can contridict me all you wnat but i know what is true
I am going to make a all in one thread of all the information I have given out so far so the same questions will not be asked.

What has happened? the person's and I have found a way to modify Halo 3.

You must have a XDK right? No we do not use a stock XDK

So then you must have a Halo 3 map resigner? No Halo 3 is near impossible to hack without a way of running homebrew it is a slim to none chance there will ever be a Halo 3 map resigner.

Then what did you use? A stock Xbox360.

Then how does it run homebrew did you use the hypervisor exploit? No unfortunately it is much more complicated then that. There is hardware involved. You may or may not already know but there is another way to make your stock 360 run homebrew with parts from another system, What system you may ask? A xbox development kit. It is possible to create a Devkit out of your own stock xbox360 with a few devkit parts making it a hybrid xbox360. We learned however that such machines can actually access both xbox live and partnernet alike. We discovered this by mistake when running the stock360 dashboard. This is why such methods are dangerous to the public.

Cool how do I upgrade my 360 to a hybrid? (update)
Its a xbox360 upgraded with XDK parts. Unfortunately the only way to do this is have unused parts for the xbox360 and build your own, that or have M$ do it. I know 3 people with upgraded xbox360s to XDK which is a hybrid (which was the nickname I gave it) of two different versions of xbox360 parts. The software however takes on the form of xdk but for what ever reason the person's can access live according to him for what ever reason which is why we chose to keep it secret but now since the person's is volunteering to give up this information. We still not going to give out information where we received the parts nor how it is made. (I myself really don't even have the basics of building one). In short its a upgraded xbox360 with xdk software.

For such a complicated system you sound like you know nothing about it. We the person's on the contrary does, however he had a friend supply the parts for him and the person's upgraded it himself. However he seems to know a lot about the process. I however am using a friends hybrid that he was supplied to by a separate guy. I do not always have access to my hybrid nor do I know really how it is built that is the persons's area.

So how exactly did you get the mods to work? Despite what many may think having a XDK or a upgraded 360 hybrid doesn't make maps automatically load. Instead the person's and I worked on a rather beautiful tool that real time halo's the mods in through the network! Thats right. However this is another reason why we won't release information about much hybrid360's its because of the fact that if you can stream the mods into a game and access live, then you can certainly go into matchmaking undetected and then turn the mods on ingame. We do not support cheating.

Thats cool but hasn't this been done before? No the last instance of halo 3 moding was used on a STOCK XDK with a edited xex to run halo 3 maps off the hardrive without flagging them down for not having the correct signature. This was done by another person's, this isn't the same method.

Is this tool like engineer? Our tool makes engineer look like dothalo compared to entity. the person's made sure it did everything correctly and allowed meta to be read beyond map and made it so tons more tags were labeled and the features on it are amazing. I assisted in the debugging and fine tuning of the app. I also brainstormed Ideas for drastic improvement that has made it into the app itself.

How does this help me? the person's. will be releasing plugins and other things from the app on halomods.

Does the app let me mod my maps and run them? No you will need to wait for a custom homebrew kernel to come out. and no I'm not talking about an exploitable kernel. I am talking about a kernel edited by modders to run homebrew right off the dash. This is the safest way for mods to be accomplished while keeping xbox live safe.
that is everything being released right now and should clear up everything.
