How exactly would that work out. Also, is this a definite thing, or are you guys just thinking about it.

Well, I would assume that, if you do not have a linked, working gamertag, then you would be unable to post in the forums, but still view them. It would be the same as the Files Forum is now, except without a reply button for those members. Anyway, that's what I think will happen.

That's what I had assumed. But, consider someone has a linked gt, but the gt is a silver. What then?

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

lukems made a post in an optimatch thread stating that linking a gamertag will be required to post in the optimatch forums soon.

thank goodness.

man, oh man, the optimatch forum is about to get a lot less messy because bans will actually perform like bans.

I agree. The constant spam will decrease infinitely.

BTW, Pyro I somewhat agree with you. You should be required to have linked GT for at least Halo 3 forum.

Why should you need one for the Halo 3 Forum? There are several aspects of Halo 3 that do not involve online play. It isn't even close to fair to not allow people to post because they do not have a gamertag. That is nearly Bungie charging members to post in certain forums, which, so far, goes against everything they are.

Gets rid of 75%+ spamming = fine with me

Anyways almost everyone on this site has a GT to get here in the first place.

So we totally disregard the people who don't have a gamertag? Nuh uh, doesn't fly with me. They payed for the game, they deserve the same service of discussing the game as you do. Whether or not they play online has nothing to do with it.

  • 01.29.2008 7:47 PM PDT

But that is what the optimatch forum is for, it says so right on it. Optimatch, discuss Halo online matchmaking and gametypes. So if it is for that why should people that don't play online be in there? If you want to discuss the game in general there is the Halo 3 forum.

Owned. Yea it's to add credibility to the claims and demands people are making on there.

I would assume it is definite. There's a reason I've never made a single post there, in the 4 years I've been here.

This is the kind of laissez-faire leadership ability that put Recon on the map in the master forum ninja community.

Ya optimatch with all linked GT ppl will get rid of all the constant flaming. It should be renamed "the kids forum" with the way a few of the threads are going right now.

- Bittorent needs to STFU (speed) only 82k down and 35 up atm.......

That change is happening VERY soon. Right now, the plan is to require a silver or gold gamertag to be linked to your account to post in there. It won't have to be visible to others, but it will have to be visible to you.

Uh, they won't be able to post anymore in Optimatch unless they link a silver or a gold gamertag to the Windows Live ID they use to log into bungie.net (remember that the gamertag doesn't have to be visible to others if they don't want it to be). If they can't be bothered to do that, then Optimatch is not the place where they need to be posting, given its very specific purpose.
