You can't give non Bungie or MS employees control over someone's Live account or even H3 MM. You do mean H3 MM only though right and not all of Xbox Live?

The Opti forum on a game developers website is important and all but your actions there should not be all encompassing over your whole Xbox Live account. I hate stupid peeps too but if I got a blacklist for posting something a mod may deem spam/off topic or inflammatory in some way and I couldn't get on Live, I would come unglued and not even bother to post here. Keep in mind, I have had this account for a while and never had a warning or ban but what you are suggesting is a little too much.

Ah I meant to say only for the more egregious offenses that result in a permanent ban. I think it's troubling for forum moderators to exert that control, maybe it could be limited to achronos/lukems, but if you can't behave yourself in the matchmaking forum (resulting in a perma-ban) then you shouldn't have the privilige of playing in matchmaking.

Oh btw, yes you can play matchmaking on certain silver account memberships. Example: 48hr trials, 1 month trials. In Halo 3 you can only play social but in Halo 2 you can play all of matchmaking in general.

Yes, but aren't those consider gold accounts? Not silver?

No sir.

If it was possible to discern which silver accounts are matchmaking capable would you have a problem from barring people who cannot play matchmaking from optimatch?

48 trials can play COD4 multiplayer without restrictions. I don't know why they call it "gold trials" if it's not a gold account.

Same with Halo 2, it's just in Halo 3 there are restrictions and they refer to the account as a silver account.

Yeah that's with 48's, I don't know why you said 1month trials though : /

Oh I would be surprised if Halo3 doesn't let 1 month trials play ranked matches. I think I should be able to check that though.

I'm having a problem and I can't figure out how to post a new topic to ask it but. When I sign in with my Windows Live ID and go to my account it shows the wrong gamertag there, how do I get my gamertag to change? My Windows ID and gamertag are linked but it shows wrong on Bungie. It shows my old one as being linked. Do they take awhile to update on bungie? It sucks not being able to see my own Halo 3 stats when signed in with the Windows live id that is linked to my gamertag.

]Well I said 48hr and 1mnth, but like I said I'm not completely sure about 1mnth right now.

Ok well now that we got that out of the way, don't you think that if someone behaves so poorly that it warrants a perm ban in the matchmaking forum, shouldn't they also lose their matchmaking privileges?

etc etc/glaringly obvious/and so on, and such <=Not redundant!

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

no, the two matters are distinct.

furthermore, many bans in the bnet forums stem from activity that is not against the terms of use of xboxlive or h3 mm. we can consider countless examples to make this clear. do you think a member should lose mm privileges for bumping, or for using the newer much less offensive 'n' word?

Actually ses, I definitely agree with your post but you are wrong about about this. Bungie can most definitely ban you from their game because of bungie.net matters. (trust me) I know it's encrypted in the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct, I may quote it for you some other time but I know Big A can back me up on this.

But of course only employees like Achronos, Jeremiah, and lukems have such power. A designee like a forum moderator do not and never will have that kind of ability.

If I understand correctly you CAN be banned from H3 MM regardless of the COC (because it is considered (legally) to be a separate service). You will still be able to enjoy "Custom Games". However, you can not be banned from XBL unless it is in the CoC and a VIP/XBL Administrator/Employee bans you.

Also like another user said you can get banned for bumping on the forums. Is that really worth a three day ban from enjoying Halo 3 MM as well? That seems a little too harsh for me. Perhaps though, that would make users less likely to commit stupid actions? However, IMO a ban from Bungie.Net is sufficient enough.

I don't think they're that distinct; one's a matchmaking playlist the other is the matchmaking forum. If they warrant a permanent ban then yes, bumping and personal insults should result in the loss of matchmaking privileges. But honestly how many people get permanently banned for Bumping, or for saying noob? Not the first offenders. Not the people who make an innocent mistake.

And with people getting banned from matchmaking due to their conduct on Bungie, NY styles p knows what he's talking about

The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

Hmmmm next step is making Bungie.net gamertags only and making blacklists ban you from Halo 3 matchmaking for a short amount of time. (Perma bans would only result in a 3 month ban from XBL to avoid being completely unfair).

That would kill spam completely me thinks.

EDIT: I honestly never saw this posted above. I have posted a topic to discuss this elsewhere as this is for discussion about the Optimatch Forum changes.

I think the Opti post requirement of a linked GT has had ZERO effect on post quality. It seems lately there are many threads on the same subject, many threads that don't belong and many threads which should be posts included in the Pinned Topics. It was mildly annoying previously and I don't know if I am just being over-sensitive or what but there is very little real discussion going on now.
