I have some confusion...I have been hearing from stores, gamecrazy and what not...that November 9th is the shipping date, meaning that Halo 2 won't be able to be actually picked up until the 10th. Is this true? Or is this some random moron acting like he knows what he's talking about?

It really depends on the store, at my gamestop, they recieve shipments either in the morning or in the evening. But either way, they'll get Halo 2 on the shipping date, because its such an assured big hit

EBGames will have your game ready for november 10th (there is a 24 hour wait once it arrives) or so it says on my preorder reciept.

EDIT-
vait a minute. The reciept says new releases will be held for 48 hours. WTF??!! Screw it, ill cancel my preorder that day, and then say to them "hey, so u have a not taken preorder, huh?"

Why did Bungie pick the 9th for the release date anyway? I mean how about the 7th? I know bungie is big on the number seven so it seems natural that... Oh who the hell cares... Halo 2 is gonna rock.

By the way let me live the 48 hour holding period that EB has means that they will give you two days to pick up your preordered game or they will sell it to someone else, not that you don't get to buy it for 2 days. I understand your confusion.

It'd be pretty tight if it was the 15th actually, (who cares, only 6 more days) because then wouldn't it be exactly 3 years after the release of the XBOX as well as Halo 1?

And EBGames will have Halo 2 on November 8th, and at 12am on November 9th they will begin to sell. That's how it is with all games, they recieve them early. November 9th is the ship date for online orders.

uhm the 9th (according to most stores that i have talked to) is actually the shipping date which means the 10th is when they will open the game for sale

9th is when ONLINE orders ship.Bungie will spend 1 month prior to release along with 4 other microsoft studios burning DVD's, then ship them off so the stores have it on the 8th and most will open on MIDNIGHT the 8th so you can have Halo 2 1-2 minutes into the 9th (can you say traffic congestion?)
