We apologize for the downtime, but the RSS feed has suddenly started crushing our web services servers. We're looking into the problem, and it should be up again soon.

hey Achronos,

Could it be an increase in the number of calls to the xml files? I know there are a few projects on the go for bringing gamers xml data together in custom scoreboards.

Hey Napolean.

You see that little orange xml button on your stats page? That is a link to your RSS feed, or xml file. it contains stats for your recent games. The cool thing is, with the right program, this data can be grabbed on a regular basis for any number of players and stored in non-bungie databases to create custom scoreboards. Check out the link in my sig for an example of a project using the RSS feeds.
cheers.

I haven't been getting much of Halo lately. Been busy with school and that. But I'll see if I can live.

Thanks for your hard work..

You've developed a really great format for playing these types of games on the web... Your attention to detail is obvious through your incredible workmanship. I'm certain that the bug in your RSS feed will be resolved quickly..

I think that LetTuc3 is confused. The RSS is a feed of your statistics.

Do you expect to have the feed back up or is scrapped indefinately. My site myHalo2stats.com uses it and so does HALOader. I am willing to work with you guys to find a way to decrease the draw on your servers all you need to do is tell me what I can do on my end. These external sites are just begining to takeoff, but I agree that bungie.net is the highest priority. Thanks guys for even making these things availible to us.

Maybe impliment a 1 hit per IP per hour rule, like on Slashdot.org's RSS feeds.. It seems that if you hit the Bungie feeds repeatedly, they just blow up

Considering the amount of weight your servers are carrying I say "no worries..." the skope of this problem is miniscule compared to the magnitude of your successes. Hmm that sounded like a fortune cookie... Keep up the good work.

Well, what I did in my script was cache the RSS feed in a database, and only allow it to update every hour. This allows the script to use less of bungie.net's bandwidth, as well as that of your own server. If everyone were to do it that way, it would make it very easy on bungie ;-).

MasterBum: my site does the same thing, I think maybe there is no limit on the Bungie side of things. Like I said in a previous post, if you hit the feed 3 or 4 times, it just blows up. Cache is good :D

Please bring the rss feeds back. I think that they are one of the many cool features of Halo 2. Hopefully all will be well again in a few days.

Thanks.
