Here is an excellent defensive strategy that I came up with while messing around in blood gulch. It is how to effectively guard your base with veichles to make it almost inpenetrable. By the way I'm writing from the red base perspective.

First you must go to your tank imediately, then park it back first against the back of the base, centered betwen the two pillars, you will know if enemy's will be able to sneak out this way if you can jump and duck inside. Then steal the enemy's tank and park it in the cave w/ overshield it is impossible to get out.

Second you get your 2 ghosts and park them inside your base(going of the tank is the easiest way) so that they are in the 2 doors that lead into the main flag room from the front entrance. Then when you have both enemy ghosts park them in the entrance ramps that get you to the toop of the base, to make sure they are in place climb up the ramp and flip it a few times if it just moves then returns to the original spot it is "locked" in place.

Now for the warthogs just drive one in and park it so that the passenger door is facing out the main entrance, then you can go inside and grab the shotguns and get out of the botttom. Or you can jam both hogs in which won't let any enemy's inm but you won't be able to access the weapons at the bottom so I suggest that you only put 1 hog in and use the other for flag assaulting.

I man guarding the base, another taking midfield, and 2 assaulting the enemy base with the warthog.

So could anyone give me feedback on this strategy? tips pointers?

Also what are your defensive strategies for BG?

The whole vehicle thing would take absolutely ages! Getting all the vehicles, don't you think that the enemy might keep some for their defence? The only way I can see that working is to wait for a couple of attacks in vehicles, kill the enemy and jam their vehicle inside as suggested.

What I suggest is this: Jam up the ground floor exits with a Ghost or Warthog. That way, enemies can get in, but they can't (or takes longer) to get out.

The best defence is ATTACK! Make them sit at their base to defend. Defending never resulted in scoring points. While defending is important, no-one will ever get anywhere if the majority of players defend.

I have one strategy, but it only works if there is a free port (and controller) in your xbox (systemlink obviously). Also this is for RED TEAM only
* Have 4 players in the game, but only 3 people per team.
* Have one of your players go to the other Xbox (best off in a different room) and distract the other team. Either by explaining the game while it loads up. Hopefully they won't realise it is effectively 3 vs 4. The best way to do this is to stay till the game actually begins then run back, making them think that you forgot (this puts them in a humerous mood and they probably won't have noticed)
* Get the extra control and grab the sniper rifle, take him along the side of the map (using the tunnels) and get near the enemy base (sit your other player near your flag so it looks like he's guarding it).
* Sit him in the shrub/bush thing in the shadows (near the blue base). Put his sniper rifle on 2x or 10x zoom towards the base.
* Play using the other controller.

This way you have a scout sat at the other base so you can see what's coming, or what you'll be facing in a few minutes time. Because the player is always at the same point and won't get a kill then none of the other players will really notice they have 4 opponants.

If they do notice (by looking at the score during or at the end of the game) do this:
* Blame it on a little brother or sister of the house owner. Say he wanted to play (even though he can't) but lost interest during the game, but we were too busy.
* Accidently put too many players on (out of habit putting 4 players instead of 3). But who cares he didn't kill anyone.

wow that is a good strategy, albeit a bit cheap, but still really cool do you have any tips for being effective at defense because if their no one atyour base an eneemy could slip by your atttacks and assault your base, ad your right it would take too long.

Simple dont defend have everyonew constantly attacking and they will be forced to defend if they dont they will lose faster trust me BG is for offense(and mayb a sniper in the back to help with chaos in the war saying which path you should take etc.)

A fun thing to do is get a hog onto the base and slowly back it off the edge so the gun is facing out. Walla a stationary machinegun

the "strategy" of using vehicles to block your entrances is cheap, and sounds like a noob strategy. it takes the whole point out of the game. the object of "capture the flag" is obviously to capture the other teams flag...not to spend the entirety of the game trying to defend yours.

but anyways, a good defensive strategy is to always have a well positioned sniper. when playing 3 vs. 3 or even 4 vs. 4, one sniper will insure excellent and much needed cover fire, and flag proctection, provided he is a skilled sniper.

whenever i play ctf bg, whether 3 vs. 3 or 4 vs. 4, i make sure everyone on my team is either aulting or providing cover fire. at no time is there more than one person guarding the flag, reason being we are not playing "guard the flag." the best defense is sometimes a good offense. and playing ctf bg, a constant and strategic ault on the opposing flag will keep your opponent on the defensive.
