I think its when in MP, the loudness of the guy speaking depends on how far he is away from you

How would distance determine how loud a voice is if SPARTANs communicate through secure COM channels?

Ok, in a team game, you can hear your friends loud and clear all the time, no matter where they are, but when you are close to an enemy, you can start to hear them. When in a free for all match, same thing, you can start to hear the enemy as you get closer. (closer you are to the enemy, the louder he sounds on voice communicator, the farther away, the quieter the voice communicator gets.) I hope i answered your question without any confusion.

Good explanation James. What I am wondering about tho is if Voice Proximity for enemies will be transfered via your Xbox headset or your TV speakers?

Also, with the amount of communication going on, will it be possible to have multiple channels to talk thru (As in Unreal Tournament 2004)?

Finally, In Halo 2, will you be able to talk to just one comrade on ur team without broadcasting to the whole rest of the team?

I think you will be able to choose if you want it in your headset or TV. For example CS for xbox. You can choose to listen to people through the TV or headset and what is really kool is that if your headset is unplugged, it automaticly picks TV.

Yes but hearing enemies through only one speaker on ur headset is kinda impractical because you cant really get a location on where the noise is coming from, and it will add to radio chatter alot.

How can you monitor the communications of other players if they are enclosed in their airtight MJOLNIR armor utilizing a secure COM channel? During free-for-all matches, taunts would be issued through the utilization of an insecure COM channel.
