Regarding the complaints about the width of the posts:
Is there a way to allow us to set our screen resolution in our profile? I've got an inch and a half of blue grid on either side of the screen. If B.net KNEW I had the ability to display it wider, the it could . . . right?

change your pc resolution under display in the control panel

Im on a laptop. and my resolution is set to max., 1280 x 800

Same here.

My laptop can go up to 1440 by 900

Just start sliding the resolution bar the other way, bigger reasolution doesn;t mean its gonna be wider, trust me on this 1 just try it out.

I still really hate this. My main complaints are basically the same as everyone else. Such as everything being too cramped. There is alot of wasted space here, I'm sure you could widen everything since it appears this is gonna stay. I honestly did like the old way more. I'm glad to hear the news about sigs. One thing I don't think anyone else mentioned ( I did read all 11 pages, but I might have missed something about this) is the time stamp. Could you maybe make it lighter or something. Cause I find it difficult to read sometimes.

Another thing, it seems everytime you guys update this site, everything gets smaller. Maybe because I use a 1920 x 1200 screen resolution? I really don't know. I remember in the New Hawtness 1.0 the fonts were fine. Then when 2.0 came out some fonts got smaller, but I really liked the layout more. Now in 2.1 (are we calling it that?) everything is much smaller and there seems to be more wasted space.

I don't understand why the sig box is so small in the downward or "y" direction. It looks like it could be a lot bigger.

All I can say is that everyone needs to go into display under the control panel and just keep setting different resolutions to see which 1 works for you.

Instead of responding to the question with what i think of the change (which if u havent read my previous responses, i dont like it) im asking you this. WHY was it necissary to make the change in the first place? was it too old? you wanted a new one? the design was faulty? I would like to know

@Crazy Strawberry:

Don't think of the mods here as official mouth pieces. They're user here too, you know. They come here to voice their opions, and aren't the "official" source for everything, and they're not obligated to answer all your questions.

As for your question, try PMing Achronos and seeing if you can get an answer out of him.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

Instead of putting the Stickies to the side and making everything skinny, just put them above the regular topics and find a way to make them..pop out (?) more. You know, larger font or somehow seperated from the normal threads below it, somewhat like how a quote box makes the quoted comment seem to come out of the page a bit. That way the Stickies will be noticed. I strongly dislike how everything is narrow and don't think putting things on the side is necessary. And besides, since the vast majority of people read left to right here, wouldn't it be better to put the stickies you want noticed in the left column? Just thinking... Probably not right though. Hmm... *hides*

The report as spam button should be underneath the avatar. Why?
1) So people don't accidentally hit it when meaning to post a reply.
2) Because in reality, you want to report that person as spammer, so why NOT have that button under their own avatar! It would be cool! Theres space under there, so it is doable.

What are your thoughts?

I litterally am having trouble looking at that sidebar. It's hideous.

I do like how the reply, submit, edit, etc. (Things below comments) options are buttons now instead of just linked text. That should stay. : )

I have 1 complaints so far.

Another: the inability to select the last page for hot topics.
Third: we can't see the last person to post in a thread.

The maximum effective size of a thread is about 10000 pages. After that, it becomes extremely difficult to keep the pager functional and updated. Even before that, it becomes a chore. But it is an edge case that frankly isn't really important to fix. There are a few things with smaller page sizes, but saying your thread is as large is yours is not the way to get us to look at it... my response would be "lock the thread."

Posted by: FearTheSwoop
We have the same problem in one of my groups. We currently have a thread that contains almost a million posts (I'm not exaggerating there) and the page count is off by several hundred pages! It's nearly impossible to find the last active page in that thread!
Yea, but we also have several other threads that are of an average size (Say 5 or 6 pages) that already have ghost pages. Some of our thread only have 2 pages before getting a ghost. It's not just a problem with having a lot of replies. I think the problem is when too many people reply at one time.

This is a bit different. I'm gonna have to get used to it.

I think that the Topic Titles for threads has a strange font when mixed with the new background.

My main argument against this change is "Why fix what's not broken?".

Really though? I'm not trying to make a point, I honestly want to know what was so wrong with the old layout that it had to be changed.

Was there any reason for this change aside from you like this look better? Like techincal mumbo jumbo?

Because there are definetly easier ways to make stickies more visible that don't cause everyone on Bungie.net to get pissed off.

I don't like the forum layout. Change it back.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

Exactly.

This is my main concern about the new forum layout.

Posted by: ash55
Overall I like the layout but I'm a bit picky on a couple of things:

Firstly, it feels weird not having the "last reply by <author>" message. I used that as a simple and easy way of checking whether the forum had new replies or not. For example, if it says "last reply by ash55", I know there haven't been any replies since.

On the main index, just a little more space between each thread would make it look less cluttered in my opinion (although that would mean it takes longer to scroll down further).

Agreed. i can live with everything. But PLEASE put the last reply back. I live by that part. I guess you never really know what you miss until you can't have it...
