Good to see at least somebody takes this place seriously

I am sincerely disappointed in everyone except JIMH. JIMH, have a gold star.

',:\ IF YA SAHMELLLL

The change is scary! I think the sides should switch. Stickies and such should be on the left side. What was wrong with the old sig setup? I now have to kink my neck to the left, I'm too old for this kind of treatment.

On the plus side, all my one liners look like they have more content.

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

Instead of putting the Stickies to the side and making everything skinny, just put them above the regular topics and find a way to make them..pop out (?) more. You know, larger font or somehow seperated from the normal threads below it, somewhat like how a quote box makes the quoted comment seem to come out of the page a bit. That way the Stickies will be noticed. I strongly dislike how everything is narrow and don't think putting things on the side is necessary. And besides, since the vast majority of people read left to right here, wouldn't it be better to put the stickies you want noticed in the left column? Just thinking... Probably not right though. Hmm... *hides*
Ooh, I see what you're saying. Put them back to normal, but maybe put them into a box just like they are currently, but on top like before.

I am having a problem with the changes here on B.net. For some reason they took out the text on the thread of who posted last. Is their anyway they can bring that feature back? I used to always read those. Plus I was having some site issues before and It would redirect me to the forum error page more than often. Is their anyway to make this page less startling to users? Because It seems very similar to the redirection page were it says you have been bakclisted. No I haven't been backlisted! and I never will! Haha!

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

I somewhat like the change, but why is there a "Go back to Forum Index" button when you can just click the forum banner and it does the same thing?

  • 01.30.2008 6:56 PM PDT

I personally don't like it... it feels a lot more crowded... and the Forum banner for me is cut in half (where it says bungie community, i can't read the writing under it)

I like them, It opens up the forums a lot more, you no longer have to limit yourself to 5 or less stickies, or an entire page of them. Really helps sort out conversation and opens everything up a bit. Helps everything get noticed, big or small topic. I like where its headed. It'll just take some getting used to.

I say great work. So far.

I hated it at first; it made my eyes bleed. Now, it just seems natural. But staring at the stickies for more that three years then moving them, it just seem a bit weird for me right now. So far though, I am getting much more used to it. Great job web team!

Just thought I would add one thing:

Can I has the name of the last person to reply? For me, it's rather difficult to help in threads if you don't know if the original poster has replied or not.

YEAH, PWN THAT FEETUS!

Is the font of forum topics supposed to be different from admin.bungie and regular bungie?

It also seems that the themes are sharper in admin.bungie.

Admin
Regular

Edit: Well it seems now that both are bolded.

Do the threads that are already sticky'd have to sometimes appear on the Top Forum Topics section as well? Let every thread have its place only once.

These discussions, just like life are about the journey, and not the destination.

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

How about they put all that -blam!- on the left side of the page at the top of the page. Right under the banner but before all the posts. Then they could expand the posts back to normal and it wouldn't feel so crowded.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

I think the stickies are good, but the signatures? Now you HAVE to be looking for it too see it, and I don't really like that. The scroll over name was much easier to see. Maybe scroll over "down arrow"?

Also it would be nicer if some of the background space was taken up by the page, it seems to be about 2" of background on each side, which seems rather excessive. Thats all. It would make reading easier.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

why do I see topics when all I want to see is posts in a thread......?

the back to forum index button was the best idea.....

I also can barely reas the post creator's name, it is in a bad spot.

can not see who posted last.

I like the format where 100% of threads are in one area.... then I don't have to look at three boxes.

The change with the stickies and top topics on the left side is HORRIBLE! This has got to be the ugliest forum I have ever seen, EVER. I thought the point of bringing in the forum layout before this was to utilize all the space on the page efficiently, and now we have so much wasted space below the top forum topics box to the bottom of the page.

This new layout FAILS, big time.

also I think the stickies should be on the left since most people here read left to right. Since you want them to be in our face EVEN AS I A MAKING A REPLY?????????? The top forum topics are not needed if you only got rid of those when viewing threads, the pinned topics are small enough so they don't matter.

I honestly looked more at the stickies when they were in the center. And reading the rules once is all you need.....

I just barely got back into Halo 3, and B.net. Less than a week ago. Seriously. I came back, and things were FANTASTIC.

A short while ago today, I was playing Halo 3 with some friends, and they were complaining about the "new forums." I had no idea what they were talking about. They told me to go see for myself. And I must say, I am sorely disappointed.

Now the Forum looks just like every other piece of crap gaming forum out there(with unusual colorations, mind you). It looks like some cheap butt Video Game Blog's Forum had diarheaa on what was once b.net. Some may find it to be "streamlined" and "chic" and maybe even "nice."

I find it to be none of these things. I feel.... alienated. The B.net I knew and loved is truly, dead. I highly doubt I will post in these forums ever again.

I like the new layout. It might take some getting used to, but it's starting to grow on me already.

Is there any way that we could still see mouse-over sigs? Other than that, and the width of the workspace being too short, I like the new layout.

One suggestion: Now, the threads don't get a lot of space, and there is a ton of unused space on each side of the page. What if the navigation bar on the right was collapsible? Is that possible? Then you could have the ability to see the stickies and not skimp out on thread space.

Anyway, those are just my initial impressions. I'll edit or post after I've messed around a bit.

Edit: I posted before I finished reading the entire thread. I'll leave the comments up, even though they've already been discussed by stosh and Achronos.
