I don't really like it very much, I feel very cramped. I do like the new graphics and buttons though, Overall, I could very well get used to this and very fast, so it doesn't matter too much to me. Hell, I am sure I will grow to love it just like the last update. Time will tell. <3 New roup design and themes. Wow, the sigs got smaller again, ack. -Ah, an error it seems.

(I'm already starting to like it) I am quite a bit too tired to post something overly constructive sadly. Good job Web Team.

I know it has been said about the normal posts, but I would like to see the last poster and time on the stickies as well. I also do not understand the presence of the Back to Forums Index button when I am already at the forum index (I noticed this in groups). Other than that great job. Thanks.

I just want to state that this new lay-out makes me feel asthmatic

It's starting to look like the Bioware forums, and I rarely visit those because of that reason.

Speaking of the Bioware forum, is it possible that we can get something like this?

because right now, the whole "top forum topics" is just hindersome (and useless) for me.

I couldn't agree more about he Bioware forums. All that unused space and the "cramming" to the left side of the page is a major turn off.

I do like the feature you pointed out on the Bioware forums, and I also love how the "dev post" button on their forums (the equivalent of a golden 7th Column icon here) links directly to the first dev post in the thread. I realize that Bnet is an entirely different animal, but is it something that could be done here?

Edit: Is there any way the "Groups" link and the "More posts by this user" link could be switched? At least for me, the latter option is used a lot more than "groups". It would make sense too, since a user's posts change more often than a user's groups.

Good to see at least somebody takes this place seriously

I am sincerely disappointed in everyone except JIMH. JIMH, have a gold star.

',:\ IF YA SAHMELLLL

Besides the forums looking like complete ass, I have also noticed a loss of functionality. The forums were streamlined after the New New Hotness, and now we have taken a step backwards.

1.) Last poster has been removed. It is now much harder to discern when someone has replied to a thread that I am interested in.

2.) Page skipping before actually going into a thread has also been removed. I used to be able to go to the second page or last page or whatever without having to open a thread. now I have to go to the first page and then skip around.

3.) The forum interface is not as easy to navigate. I need to make several clicks to find things like "more posts from this user". Before they were readily available without having to go through sub-menus.

4.) The side bar is a grosser form of the Navbar than the original New Hawtness had. And what is on it? Things that are logically able to put elsewhere. It is like you moved more things over there just to make it seem like the stickies weren't the only thing over there. "See guys it's not just the five stickies that are over there! There are all those functions which used to have a proper place. All the stuff you need is on that sidebar, therefor you must need that sidebar". Give me a break; you are fooling no one.

All we wanted are practical things like a sent pm feature, and enhanced search features. But it seems like the website designers or whoever the hell is in charge is telling us: "Screw you, all we want is the stickies to be as intrusive as possible at the loss of aesthetic and practical values".

Edit: Back to forum index button? Is this redundancy day? We already have that by pressing the top bar with the forum name on it in giant bold letters.

Total agreement.

Also:

Why do we have to click the top right corner of the group banners to refresh the group forums? It's on all the other forums...

I like it about as much as I liked the last big update; I hate it. But I'll get used to it.

Also, it probably made my avatar look horrible. I wouldn't know, though, because this is the first post I've made since the update.

Give me 8 seconds.

EDIT: AWW my avatar looks stupid now. Time for a new one, I guess.

OMG, gaming for the fun of it.

Like it, good job. Only request i would make would be to reinstate the bit that shows who the last poster was in a thread as other people have said before. It makes it easier to keep track of threads you've posted in and see if anyones replied since.

Overall very nice, a lot tidier.

I'd like to propose an idea. A lot of people have been complaining how there's a lot of unused space on the right, below the "Top Forum Topics".

My idea could work, the only thing is I'm (fairly) sure that you (Achronos and the Web Team) would have to do a lot of modifying as far as the HTML and CSS goes to pull this off. I'm a Web Designer myself and right now it looks like you have two fixed-width containers side by side (I think you floated 'em but I am not going through the source to find out, it's huge), one for the posts and one for the pinned topics etc.

Been as though they are fixed width, it'd be impossible to pull this off without some major changes, but it is possible.

To the point...

I've gone on long enough, here's my idea.

What do you think?

EDIT:

I'd like to add a few little things:

#1 The background colour for text input and text area fields is... not pretty.
#2 Upon clicking "Report", and clicking yes on the "Are you sure?" dialogue, once the AJAX request is sent the loading image that appears is not appearing where it should be. Nothing major but I'm just bringing it up.
#3 We need the "last post by ____" thing back, definitely.

That's all I can think of right now. Other than the above... not bad. Not bad at all. I do believe it needs a little work though.

If you invite me to your group you will be blocked.

Anyone else notice that the new members can completely ignore the rules more efficiently than before because of the stickies' location?

Now they'll just go straight for the main board with no blazingly obvious, clunky threads at the top to distract them away from discussion and draw them to the rules.

sig goes where?

I believe this was added so new ppl are more likely to read the stickies, figure out how to post new topic, and with the top forum topics on the side, maybe less repeat topics?

one can only hope

also i took me awhile to figure out how to see sigs and more posts etc

go back to forum whatever is REDUNDANT!! we already have that as the big coloured graphic with the forum name on it

and last post and the ability to go to last page should be back out on the front of a thread

all together i think this is a good change, but need some things changed

sig goes where?

also there is a whole lot of wasted space on my 1680 by 1050 screen

its about 25% blue, then 35% posts then 15% black/stickies then 25% blue going from left to white

therefore 65% of my screen space is completely wasted wen I'm scrolled down past the stickies

can we put a resolution option in our profile options so the site auto corrects this?

The "Back to Forum Index" Button, there to take up more space to keep the side bar from seeming completely useless.

Is Bungie ever going to add Link Hovering to their forums? That'd be nice.

I mentioned that earlier too. It's useless, all you need o do to go back to the Forum Index is click on the Forum Header, which is bigger...

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I like the buttons. I always thought buttons looked better than links. I like the sticky placement as well. The "Top Forum Topics" section does not really bother me either, though it might bother me in the future because of the method used to compile them. Though, even that's not a big deal at all. Although, "see all top topics" sounds a bit redundant.

The layout reminds me of the Old New Hawtness, so I don't mind that. I thought giving us the extra space in the last update was a good idea for an overall look, but its certainly not necessity. It harkens back to the "old days", but with all the new tools we have its like an improved "old days".

I'd prefer it if the OP and the last poster were displayed in the forum queue though. That made it easier to find bumpers and serious spammers, though its also not necessary all in all because we have the report button now. It was just a function I liked using, because I could patrol on my own an stop stupidity before too many people saw it.

I think it would be awesome if we could look at something in the massive black space on the right side under the stickies and "top topics", aside from a massive black space. Well, that does not bother me much, so long as its not filled up with ads to adultfriendfinder.com (hahahahahahah you can't stop me from stealing from you Pezza).

-edit-

I'd also like it if we could go directly to the last post from the forum queue. Though I might have just missed it, if we are still able to do that somehow.

I could not care less about the signatures though. As far as I'm concerned, those can go away forever. Though it looks like the web-team will make them bigger for you all, so I guess you'll get what you all want there.

You can still click on the date of the last post time on the forum index. That'll take you to the most recent post. That does not apply to stickies (and I don't think it should, because it forces people to read the first post which is generally the most important) but I do think that it might be beneficial to add the pager and last post details to the "top topics".

Everything just seems cramped. I do like however, that pinned topics are not on the first page of the forums.

Posted by: just another fan
Do we really have to see the Top and Stickied topics when we browse through a thread, or when we reply?

QFTx2. The cramped feeling for me is only in the threads; I really don't think we need to see additional threads once we're in one.
