Yes, that's the entire point. As a moderator, you should know that better than anyone - "people don't read the stickies!" Well, they're on the create post page now - they are unavoidable.

Do we really have to see the Top and Stickied topics when we browse through a thread, or when we reply?

Wouldn't making it where when a new thread was posted, it automatically had 1 reply (the Op's) fix the page not found error at the end of longer threads and solve the authored by problem at the same time.

Sigs accidently shrunk. They are actually wider now, but the height was unintentionally reduced. We'll probably restore them to their original height, maybe greater.

For the record, I like the changes. Pinned threads and mod tools are easier to use. On the other hand, sigs are even more worthless now.

There's a distinct difference between unavoidable and annoying. Having them on the topic index alone still means they're unavoidable, just means they're not as annoying.

Okay, I have a concern:

I have a thread in one of my groups that 605 pages long. Once we hit page 7 or 10 when the thread was first created, we started seeing these "ghost pages" (as I like to call them) where a new page will be created, but the previous page still has under 25 posts. Therefore, that "ghost page" displays no posts and says "topic not found."

It's not that big of a deal to the group, you just have to go back one page. However, this new layout doesn't let you go back previous pages from the last page. So as of now, I cannot see or get to the current page in that thread.

Will this be fixed? I understand there are a lot of changes needed to be made because of the new layout, so I'm wondering if that would be one of them.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing, I'm hoping a Mod will understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks.
Sorry for quoting myself, just bringing this to page 4.

I don't know about you guys, but as practical as that sounds, I doubt that's gonna work properly here. When people make retarded, repeditive, or spam-tacular posts, they don't really take the time to read what's on the right-hand side.

Even as I'm typing this (and say I were new), I'm ignoring all the stickies on the right-hand side.I consider all the text to my right as white noise to me.

Plus, that only applies to when you create a new thread - that'd be be alright with me, since being able to see the stickies while you're typing up a thread could be useful. But as for viewing a thread? I couldn't care less about those annoying stickies in my face. My sense of "coziness" has been violated here. If I wanna see more threads, I'll go to the index.

OK, that's good. I was just about to redo my sig =X

the more I look at this thing, the more it is really hurting my head. it feels like my eyes are constantly crossing. I'm an art major, and composition-wise it seems like the stickies should be on the other side. just a thought, because functionally it works well to have everything displayed on one page.

I think what I'm going to do is remove the OP author on the topics page and add back the last reply name. Quite honestly, the last reply author is more useful information than the OP name.

I'm not quite sure how the pinned topics might change... I may get last reply date and author in there, as well as a pager. We'll see what I can do...

"Fifty years from now, when you're looking back on your life, don't you want to be able to say that you had the courage to get in the car?"

I think some of the forum changes are good, such as getting the Stickied subjects off to the side, however, it makes the actual thread space seem small and cramped.

My biggest complaint is the lack of a "last reply by" section of each thread. Especially in the private groups, it's difficult to know who posted and when. I liked being able to look at a thread and think, "Oh, so-and-so was the last poster, so no one else has posted in that thread yet."

Other than that, I think I could get used to this layout, even though I admittedly liked the previous one much, much better. But please, Bungie, give us the option to see who posted last!

Edit: Never mind, I see Achronos is addressing the problem!

I dislike not seeing who created the last post in a topic. It makes it more difficult to browse through forums and see whether or not someone replied to you.

That likely means there is a proxy you're using that is still caching old stuff. You'll just have to wait... it will eventually update.

the only workaround that I know for that is when you are at the thread listing for the forum/group and know that clicking on the "latest post" will take you to the gghist page, look at the page count numbers and click on the one before the last page number listed,

We have the same problem in one of my groups. We currently have a thread that contains almost a million posts (I'm not exaggerating there) and the page count is off by several hundred pages! It's nearly impossible to find the last active page in that thread!

No, I'm with yah there. Like I said, my sense of "coziness" has been violated =[

It find it annoying too. Stickies rarely change, so why does it always have to be in our face when we're viewing a topic?

That would be much nicer. Last reply is very important info to stop constant bumping.

Couldn't the "Text Formatting Legend" be above the text box and title? It still seems pointless and I can see many new members asking how to bold or italicize things.

1. Could the last reply/pages on pinned topics return?

2. When I hover over the sticky or Golden Septagon on pinned topics, nothing appears saying what they are.

3. Wasn't the point of the New New Hawtness to get rid of images and just use text (Compared to the Old New Hawtness)? It seems like now the images have returned, just in different places.

4. Could groups be hidden and "More posts by User' be be 'Message User?'

If you can find an instance of me posting "Read the stickies" in the last year (hell, ever), you'll get a cookie. It's not a line i use. As for reading the stickies - i've read them. I now want them to go away and stop crowding my page and making a huge void at the side of every thread longer than newnab's peen.

Maybe I'm getting old (33), but the differing font sizes in conjunction with the cramped layout and color scheme have made this forum physically difficult for me to read. My eyes honestly feel fatigued now after trying it for 10-15 minutes. If this was for any other game, I'd stop coming here. :(

Functionality-wise, I agree with most of what has been written regarding last post, dupes on the right side, and lack of individual page numbers on the right. Wouldn't a standard popular piece of forum software like vBulletin be more appropriate for this site?
