They also need the mini-pager. I have stosh playing with it right now. It isn't going to stay like it is. Most likely, it will lose the "Post by" and gain the last reply by and date, the mini-pager, and likely have a font shrink.

If the topicds listed in the right hand frame don't or can't get a "latest post" link, then perhaps they need some sort of Icon change to indicate recent activity or an update?

It tells me that when I originally made comments somebody wasn't paying attention if you feel the need to ban me then do so, it isn't likely I'll be sticking around with the way this is being handled anyway.
Don't be beligerant, please. This is such a nice thread =[

But, uhh, what I say sometimes doesn't get noticed by anyone. At all. And there's usually a reason for it.

Get over yourself. That's life. Don't be a tool.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

things look crazy to me NOW, but i suspect that is because things are not familiar to me yet. so far, i have not noticed anything missing or the matter with the forums, so i have no complaints.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

I can't explain exactly why I don't like it, but I don't, and by the looks of it many people agree with me. All I'm saying is that it's pretty clear, to me at least, that most people want it back to the way it was and you should consider what the members of the site want.

  • 01.30.2008 1:18 PM PDT

So I understand the pinned topics. I just read the mini update on the home page. It said it would also show bookmarked threads...

I'm assuming the 'Top Forum Topics' part are the threads that have been saved the most. Given that(ugh, I just reminded myself of Geometry a long while ago when we had to do proofs), are they affected by time? Say a really old thread has a lot of bookmarks. Old as in...maybe a month without a post. Then a new one comes in and is bookmarked maybe...10 less times. Would the new one still replace it?

Or is there a time limit where that thread has to have a post in it or else it is taken off the list? That makes more sense to me.

Anyways I opposed this at first...but I'm getting used to it. It is confusing, and I'd like it if we didn't have to click for sigs. I liked it when the titles and names were below the avatar rather than next to it. Otherwise it seems all right. Good job Bungie.

When you viewing a thread, the grid background continues to go down while scrolling. Has it always been like that? Because I've never noticed it before.
You mean it goes down but transitions to blue, right? If not, then something is wrong on your end....or mine.

Possibly, but that would be a complex change and also make the posts page way wider that it was before. It is being considered, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Hey Achronos. Is there any way, since the pinned topic boxes kind of take up a lot of space, that we could have the option to open and close those boxes? Kinda like minimizing it into a small thin column? Than, this could expand the main body of the forum more. If the user wants to see the stickies, they could open it up again. This would be REALLY cool.

  • 01.30.2008 1:19 PM PDT

I don't know if I like the change or dislike it, but that's because I'm not used to it.

It is interesting, though.

It's obviously a work in progress, but I'm sure with the feedback everything will be looking snappy pretty soon. I love the amount of new themes, though the overall feel is a little cramped at the moment.

Formerly known as BASs13 and One Point Three

I like some of the changes, but I don't need to see the stickies when I am in a topic. That could give some more room for the topics. I like how the Optimatch forum now has a gamertag limit.

that is a wise move. much like friends -only radar, we halo vets can simply ignore the information if we do not choose to put it to use. but, maybe, just maybe, people who are about to start yet another mlg/team hardcore thread, or another ranked btb thread will see that there are already threads about those topics.

very good thinking, bungie.

Posted by: Achronos
Yes, that's the entire point. As a moderator, you should know that better than anyone - "people don't read the stickies!" Well, they're on the create post page now - they are unavoidable.

Do we really have to see the Top and Stickied topics when we browse through a thread, or when we reply?

The main page for forums work fine for me.
Group themes look awesome.

Now, if only posts didn't look so skinny, I'd be very happy.

  • 01.30.2008 1:22 PM PDT

Oh yes, one more suggestion.
When you post it makes the last post the top of the page. If this hasn't been addressed already...I think the site could be improved if, after posting, the last post appeared on the bottom of the page. Just a suggestion, because I don't really see a point of having the screen on epty space.

There is a problem with the pages as Halo2Girls stated earlier - when users are blacklisted their posts are censored. If 10 or more people are blacklisted, some of the newer pages do not appear.
Hidden posts (from blacklistings) don't throw off the page/post counter. Deleted posts and abnormally huge threads do.
Thanks for that, and is that considered a bug?

Aren't the post page smaller than they were before? You could just expand it to the way it was before...

That's all I agree with so far in supporting the new layout.

All the new banners are showing except for The Flood. The Description is cut off.

We'd all close it and it would be pointless.

this is yet another way that the kind and clever folks at bungie spoil us rotten. without joking, our days are better in many ways because of their efforts (playinh halo ce, h2, h3, and bnet), and they are willing to take out thoughts into consideration.

thank you!

Stosh, myself, and runningturtle are looking into these sorts of changes right now. The nice thing about the web is that we can respond relatively quickly to feedback in a fairly transparent way.

The only things that I don't really care for/would like to see changed are the font size on the forum topic listings - make them a bit smaller, and the width of the same page. I think it would be a little less cramped-looking if it was a bit wider. That and the "posted by" and "last reply by" stuff that seems to be a common complaint. Other than that, it's the best site update in a while, in my opinion.

It's really really bad. I'm sorry but this is the worst forum set up i have seen in a very very long time.
Just give us a option of changing it fro, the old and new one. Although i bet most would prefer the old one, but that might work.

I liked the old way a lot better.
