Have you wondered why their home planet or moon is full of methane? and how would it be like there?

Becuase the planet was probably slowly being over heated releasing slow amount's of methane. Slowly causing the Grunts to evolve into pure methane breathers.

What i wanna know is: how come if their atmosphere has so much methane in it, any kind of flame wouldn't burn away the atmosphere? I have read (i think in the manual) that there are pillars of flame or something. I'M CONFUSED.
